About Traversal
Traversal is building an AI site reliability engineer that identifies, root causes, and fixes production issues within complex software infrastructure. We're a team of some of the best AI talent - including professors at Columbia & Cornell with PhDs from MIT & Berkeley - with over 20 years of research experience, pushing the forefront of AI Agents and Causal AI. Traversal is already deployed in some of the largest enterprises in the world helping improve the resilience of mission critical systems that serve millions of people worldwide, with a decrease in MTTD/MTTR of up to 90%.
The Role
As Traversal’s first Sales Engineer, you’ll help define how we engage with prospective customers, guide them through technical evaluations, and support onboarding. This is a foundational, customer-facing role at the intersection of technical depth and relationship building.
You’ll collaborate with product and engineering to translate technical capabilities into clear, compelling demos and POCs. You’ll work closely with our CEO and BizOps lead to help scale founder-led sales into a repeatable process. You’ll act as the technical voice in conversations with prospects, create resources to support go-to-market efforts, and relay insights back to the team to shape roadmap priorities.
If you thrive in high-ownership, high-velocity environments—and are excited to help define how AI-native infrastructure products are introduced and adopted—we’d love to meet you.

- 4+ years in a Sales Engineering, Solutions Architecture, or Developer Advocate role—or relevant engineering experience with strong customer instincts.
- Strong technical background in backend systems, developer tools, cloud infrastructure, or observability platforms.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to a range of audiences.
- Experience building POCs, leading demos, or owning technical parts of a sales cycle.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment with shifting priorities.
Nice to Have
