Area Director

The Area Director will provide leadership and operational oversight for multiple Tree House locations across Massachusetts and the Northeast. This position is fully in-person and requires consistent weekly travel within the Area Director’s assigned region.  The specific territory will be finalized based on the successful candidate’s home location, business needs, and proximity to Tree House properties, with the potential to oversee additional new company locations in the future.

The Area Director is expected to lead during peak and high-impact periods, including nights, weekends, holidays, and major events.

Pay Range: $120,000-$140,000 annual.

  • Champion Tree House's uncompromising commitment to product quality while fostering a culture of ownership, accountability, and operational excellence that consistently elevates standards across all locations within the territory.
  • Set and execute the strategic vision for the territory by making thoughtful, data-driven decisions that balance risk, opportunity, and long-term business objectives while aligning the interests of individual locations with the broader goals of Tree House.
  • Lead the territory's financial performance through disciplined fiscal stewardship, sound resource management, and the execution of short- and long-term strategies that improve profitability, efficiency, and sustainable growth.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of business performance—including P&L results, labor efficiency, sales trends, and cost management—to proactively identify opportunities, anticipate challenges, and drive informed decision-making.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment by adapting quickly to changing business needs, maintaining focus on priorities, and leading teams confidently through change.
  • Continuously evaluate and strengthen quality control programs, operational standards, and business processes while challenging the status quo and implementing innovative, scalable solutions that improve execution across the territory.
  • Assess organizational capabilities and proactively develop leadership pipelines by coaching managers, identifying talent, creating meaningful development opportunities, and partnering with Human Resources to support long-term career growth and succession planning.
  • Lead with accountability by setting clear expectations, consistently enforcing company policies and operational standards, taking ownership of outcomes, learning from mistakes, and recognizing team successes.
  • Translate Tree House's mission, values, and culture into everyday leadership behaviors that inspire purpose, engagement, and commitment while consistently acting in the best interest of the organization.
  • Build trust and influence across departments, municipalities, regulatory agencies, and community partners by fostering collaborative relationships, communicating with clarity and professionalism, maintaining the highest level of confidentiality, and driving alignment toward shared objectives.
  • Develop and present persuasive, data-driven recommendations that improve operational performance, organizational effectiveness, financial results, and the overall guest experience while building support through thoughtful communication and collaboration.
  • Demonstrate initiative, resilience, and a relentless commitment to execution by anticipating needs, removing obstacles, maintaining focus on critical priorities, and ensuring no aspect of the business is overlooked.
  • Foster an inclusive, collaborative environment by actively listening to others, leveraging diverse perspectives, involving teams in meaningful decision-making, and creating a culture where people are empowered to contribute and succeed.

Non-Negotiables / Minimum Qualifications

  • 12+ years of progressive leadership experience in hospitality, retail, food & beverage, or other multi-unit operating environments, including oversight of multiple locations and leadership teams.
  • Ability to travel regularly between territory locations and maintain a visible, engaged leadership presence throughout the region. Must have a reliable personal vehicle and clean driving record.
  • Lead during peak and high-impact periods, including nights, weekends, holidays, and major events.
  • Enthusiasm for growth opportunities, including expanding territory
  • Proven track record driving operational excellence, sustainable growth, and financial performance across complex, high-volume business units, with strong business and financial acumen spanning P&L management, labor strategy, forecasting, cost controls, capital planning, and long-term growth initiatives.
  • Strategic and results-oriented leader with the ability to translate organizational objectives into actionable plans, identify operational opportunities, implement process improvements, and lead change that delivers measurable results across multiple locations.
  • Demonstrated ability to build, coach, and lead high-performing management teams, develop strong leadership pipelines, foster a culture of accountability, and establish credibility and influence across all levels of the organization.
  • Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and change leadership skills, with the ability to balance competing priorities, navigate ambiguity, and drive alignment in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Proven cross-functional collaborator with experience partnering across Operations, Finance, Human Resources, Facilities, Marketing, and Supply Chain to achieve business objectives while delivering exceptional guest experiences and continuously elevating operational, service, and product quality standards.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to effectively represent the organization with employees, guests, vendors, municipal stakeholders, and community partners.
  • Physically capable of navigating active hospitality environments, including extended periods of walking, standing, and engaging directly with guests and team members.
