Position Overview:

We’re looking for a Business Development Manager to lead our team of Business Development Reps. In this role, you’ll manage and coach the BDR team while building and executing strategies that drive strong pipeline growth. You’ll keep a close eye on activity metrics and pipeline targets, making sure the team is set up to hit (and exceed) their goals. We’re looking for a leader who understands the sales process, knows how to motivate a team, and genuinely enjoys mentoring and developing others.

This role is a key part of Trella’s Go-To-Market team as well as our company’s overall success. We operate as a startup within a larger organization–highly collaborative, often challenging status quo, and always looking to get better. Location: This is a hybrid role with 1 day a week in our Buckhead office.  

Reports to: Executive Vice President, Growth

As a Business Development Manager at Trella, you will:

  • Leadership & Management: 
    • Hire, train, onboard, and mentor team of Business Development Reps.
    • Foster a culture of high performance and accountability.
    • Develop and implement training programs to enhance the skills and productivity of the BDR team, both in inbound lead conversion and outbound pipeline creation.
    • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching and feedback.
    • Recruit, hire, and onboard new sales reps as needed
  • Strategy & Planning:
    • Develop and execute comprehensive BDR strategies to drive lead generation and pipeline growth.
    • Crafting and optimizing calling scripts, email templates, and outreach sequences. 
    • Parter with sales and marketing teams to align on target accounts, outreach strategies, and campaigns.
    • Identify and implement best practices to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the BDR team.
    • Analyze market trends to accurately forecast pipeline and adjust strategies as necessary.
  • Performance & Reporting: 
    • Monitor team KPIs (ex. Calls, emails, meetings booked) and report progress to leadership
    • Utilize CRM, sales engagement platform, and other tools to track and manage lead generation activities.
  • Collaboration & Communication: 
    • Work closely with Marketing and Sales leaders to align BDR goals with the company’s goals.
    • Facilitate effective communication between the BDR team and other departments, such as sales, marketing, and customer success.
    • Represent the BDR team in cross-functional meetings and initiatives.
    • Provide ongoing feedback to marketing on inbound lead performance, campaign messaging resonance, etc.
  • Innovation
    • Consistently evaluate AI tools, software, and new approaches to pipeline development to help us scale faster and improve results

This job might be a fit for you if you have: 

  • 5+ years of SaaS Sales or Business Development, with preference in the Healthcare IT or Health Tech industry.
  • 2+ years in a leadership or management role overseeing a BDR or sales team.
  • Proven track record of meeting and exceeding pipeline targets and driving lead generation initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience developing prospecting campaigns and content.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data to make data-driven decisions.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Fluent in the modern BDR tech stack including CRM software (e.g., Salesforce) and sales engagement (Outreach), etc.
  • Familiarity with sales and marketing automation tools.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant software.
  • Ability to travel for conferences (2-3 a year).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, related field, or equivalent years of experience.
