Position Overview:
Trella is looking for its next DevOps Engineer to help us manage and improve our AWS cloud infrastructure as we continue to scale. This person will support CI/CD pipeline maturity and contribute to the reliability, security, and observability of Trella’s production systems. This role works across containerized workloads on ECS and EKS/Kubernetes, Terraform-managed infrastructure, TeamCity build pipelines, and monitoring systems including New Relic, Grafana, and CloudWatch.
This DevOps Engineer will participate in release engineering, disaster recovery planning, information security operations (HIPAA/SOC2), and the ongoing effort to reduce managed server count through serverless and container-based architectures. Cross-functional collaboration with development, data engineering, and integration teams is a core part of the role.

Location: This role is remote with a for candidates within commuting distance of Atlanta, GA or Philadelphia, PA. We will also consider applicants based in other U.S. locations.
Reports to: Director, IT Operations
As a DevOps Engineer at Trella, you will work on:
- CI/CD & Release Engineering: Design, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines to support reliable, repeatable build and deployment processes across multiple application stacks. Drive pipeline maturity by identifying and resolving bottlenecks, reducing build times, and improving deployment frequency and reliability.
- Cloud Infrastructure & IaC (AWS & Terraform): Manage and evolve Trella's AWS cloud infrastructure across services including EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, VPC, Lambda, and CloudWatch. Support multi-region architecture considerations and contribute to redundancy and availability improvements
- Containers & Orchestration: Operate and support containerized workloads running on Amazon ECS and EKS/Kubernetes. Build and maintain Docker images, manage container registries, and ensure images meet security and performance standards. Assist development and data engineering teams with containerizing applications and migrating workloads from server-based to container-based deployments.
- Monitoring, Observability & Incident Response: Maintain and improve observability tooling across New Relic, Grafana, and AWS CloudWatch, including dashboards, alerts, and log aggregation. Proactively identify gaps in observability coverage and implement instrumentation improvements in partnership with engineering teams. Participate in on-call rotations and incident response, helping to diagnose, remediate, and document production incidents
- Security & Compliance: Support Trella's HIPAA and SOC 2 compliance posture by maintaining secure configurations, access controls, audit logging, and evidence collection. Partner with the information security team on vulnerability management, patch cycles, and security tooling. Enforce security best practices across infrastructure provisioning, secrets management and network segmentation. Respond to security findings and remediate risks identified through audits, penetration testing, or automated scanning tools
This job might be a fit for you if you have:
Minimum Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in IT operations, DevOps, or infrastructure engineering
- Demonstrated programming or scripting experience (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python) without requiring the use of AI to comprehend or write the basics
- Working understanding of IP networking, DNS, VPN, and firewall management
- Familiarity with cloud provider offerings, specifically AWS core services (EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, VPC, CloudWatch)
- Good understanding of relational database administration (MariaDB, PostgreSQL, or similar)
- Experience with Linux system administration and command-line tooling
- Basic understanding of containerization concepts (Docker, container images, registries)
- Familiarity with version control systems (Git/Bitbucket)
Nice to have:
- AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer, or SysOps Administrator)
- Experience with Snowflake data warehouse administration or data pipeline support
- Familiarity with Apache Airflow (MWAA) for workflow orchestration
- Experience with React, .NET, Node.js, Angular, or PHP/Laravel application stacks (for deployment support context)
- Exposure to data pipeline and ETL automation workflows
- Familiarity with dbt (data build tool) for transformation workflows
- Experience conducting disaster recovery planning and DR drills
- Knowledge of multi-region AWS architecture and failover strategies
- Ability to work in a less-structured environment where initiative, dedication, and flexibility are highly valued
