Our Product Validation Team is seeking a Product Validation Test Engineer. You would be responsible for working in our Product Test lab verifying and validating the latest advanced radio systems with emulators and test equipment. You will support challenging and exciting lab and field test tasks benchmarking the performance of the product in both emulated and real-world environments. You will deep dive into more challenging technical debugging and problem solving with SW and HW developers and product systems engineers. You will work on multiple product and technology development programs focusing on SW/HW design integration, verification, and validation. You will be responsible for specifying, designing, planning, reporting, and testing in the lab and field test environments. You will also participate in and work directly with customers to provide technical expertise to include advising and/or performing customer integration projects, giving new product and capability demonstrations, and providing on-site subject matter expertise during customer field exercises. The PV Test engineer will provide Voice of the Customer (VoC) inputs based on field experience and customer feedback

The essential duties and responsibilities include:
- Test, Evaluate and Analyze SW/HW integrated wireless communication systems. Focus on product level validation testing.
- Conduct lab and field testing which includes demonstrations, product training, integration with 3rd party accessories (such as antennas, headsets, power sources, cameras, microphones), applications (voice, IP data, video, etc) and product documentation. A strong emphasis on IP networking is a must
- Summarize test data and drive test reporting reviews to team leaders.
- Support systems engineering of TrellisWare proprietary technologies and standards to design, document, and execute test cases.
- Execution of field interoperability and performance validation testing in both mobile and stationary environments.
- Top level log analysis, debugging and troubleshooting of field functional and performance issues. Responsible for debugging field failures and anomalies via log analysis and issue reproducibility.
- Assessment of performance benchmarking to competitor/reference devices.
- Provide technical analysis to ensure compliance.
- Provide coaching, knowledge sharing, and competence building to PV Test team members.
- Contribute to process improvement and planning for the PV Test Team.
- Support test environment setup, configuration, and automation.
- Support Product Test Lab inventory control and management.
- Travel up to 25%. Mostly domestic and local to San Diego.
- Provide Engineering support for customer field events with the Field Application Engineers and Sales Team.
- Support Identifying customer issues with TrellisWare products and features and works closely with the customer to resolve those issues.
- Provides technical support for customers to help them understand the more advanced features of TrellisWare’s products to accomplish complex use cases.
- Identifies risks in fielded products or products under development that would negatively impact the customer.
- Provide Voice of the Customer (VoC) input by capturing customer's expectations, preferences and aversions. Communicates needed feature changes or updates to Product Management Team.
- Communicates customer issues and feedback on field operation of TrellisWare products to all stakeholders, including both successful and unsuccessful systems integrations and product operability.
- Develops relationships with team members built on trust and respect.
Education and work experience requirements are:
- BSEE/BSCE or equivalent military experience in Telecommunication/Wireless Communications, Digital Signal Processing, Tactical Radio Communications
- 3+ Years of relevant test experience.
- 2+ Year of wireless communications experience.
- Minimum of 7 years of related experience in the market or technology segments identified; 10+ years of relevant experience preferred.
- Demonstrates track record in fielding and troubleshooting RF systems and networked communications products.
- Knowledge of configuration, operation, and maintenance of tactical communication systems or TrellisWare products.
- Experience in US Special Forces, US Military, and/or commercial specialty communications communities are highly desired.
- A known track record of communication system deployments in the applicable market segment(s) is a must.
To be considered for this position, you would need to meet, at a minimum, the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed here:
- Fundamental knowledge of RF Technology, Radio Design and RF Test Equipment.
- Knowledge and experience with calculation of rf propagation and field testing of wireless radio transceivers.
- Experience with networking (OSI layer 3 and 4): UDP, TCP/IP networking and transport protocol
- Strong understanding of IP data including addressing schemes, IP switches/router interface, gateway functionality, TCP/UDP protocols and the best methods for transfer over data pipe.
- Experience using test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, signal generators, radio emulators, network analyzers, rf switch matrixes, and multimeters.
- Understands the military communications markets and their deployment practices including USSOCOM, Army, Navy and Air Force as well other government agencies and the tactical communications products they use.
- Knowledge of the OSI 7 layers model.
- Test case design, planning, preparation, and execution.
- Troubleshooting techniques utilizing an analytical approach.
- Ability to use Windows, Linux GUI and command line tools for software installation and diagnostics.
- Technical Knowledge of wireless telecommunications and cellular radio systems standards (FDMA,TDMA).

- It would be extra awesome if you had:
- Experience and/or knowledge of Mobile Ad-hoc Networked (MANET) radio, C4I, and military communications.
- In-depth understanding of Military and Public Safety tactical network infrastructure. Demonstrated familiarity with wideband networked military and commercial communication products and government contracting. Understands the military communications markets and their deployment practices including Public Safety, USSOCOM, Army, Navy and Air Force as well other government agencies and the tactical communications products they use.
- Ability to seamlessly integrate communications products with other customer systems and maximize network performance. Knowledge of electrical and mechanical integration for when customers decide they want to integrate radios into cars, or aircraft, or ships, etc.
- Demonstrates familiarity with wideband networked military and commercial communication products and government contracting.
- Works independently, demonstrates initiative and interacts with a variety of engineering development teams, acquisition/procurement specialists and communications and/or networking product users.
- Demonstrates professionalism in customer-facing field events.
- Knowledge of electrical and mechanical integration for when customers decide they want to integrate radios into cars, or aircraft, or ships, etc.
- Ability to understand complex communication and engineering concepts and explain them to customers in simple, understandable ways.
- Experience using networking troubleshooting tools: Wireshark, ICMP, SSH
- Experience programming VB.NET, Python, C.
- Experience with LINUX/UNIX command line interface.
- Experience with shell scripting or more advanced programming skills.
- Advanced experience with Microsoft Office Application (Word, Excel, etc…).
- Certifications such as MTA/MCSA, Linux+, Net+.

TrellisWare Technologies pays competitively according to the market in an individual's geographic location, in addition to their qualifications and experience. The posted range is annually and for individuals located in the San Diego, CA area.

$85,000 - $130,000 USD
