Associate Attorney – Insurance Coverage
Role Description
We are seeking an Associate Attorney with at least 4 years of insurance analysis and coverage experience to join our Walnut Creek, California office. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in analyzing complex insurance policies and handling coverage-related disputes.
Our dynamic Insurance Services Practice Group is known for its comprehensive approach to handling matters related to complex insurance claims analysis and representing insurance company clients in some of the most high-stakes coverage litigation cases across the country, including cases involving defective products, mass torts, environmental contamination, habitability, transportation, professional liability, and intellectual property.
This position is hybrid in our Walnut Creek, California office. Qualified remote candidates in California will be considered.
Essential job duties include:
- Handling all phases of insurance coverage analysis and related civil litigation in state and federal court.
- Drafting coverage opinions, reservation of rights letters, and other coverage-related communications.
- Drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery, and participating in depositions, mediations, and hearings.
- Providing strategic legal advice to insurance company clients and collaborating with claims professionals and adjusters.
- Monitoring underlying litigation and evaluating exposure under applicable policies.
- Regularly interfacing with clients, opposing counsel, and attending court hearings and oral arguments, both remotely and in-person.

Qualifications
- Active California bar license
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
- At least 4 years of experience in insurance coverage and/or insurance defense litigation in either state or federal court.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Exceptional writing, organizational, and advocacy skills

Salary commensurate with experience:
$140,000 - $165,000 USD
