Elastic Engineer
Triangle Cyber is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Elastic Engineer to join our team for a federal contract engagement. The Elastic Engineer will be part of a team of Data Analytics Engineers enhancing, maintaining, and sustaining an Elastic, Logstash, and Kibana (ELK) instance with a heavy emphasis on data onboarding, content development, configuration, troubleshooting, reporting, and visualizations. The candidate must possess prior Elastic engineering and administration experience, meet the necessary certification prerequisites, and work well in a distributed team environment.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with cloud-based big data technologies, a strong understanding of data engineering principles, and the ability to work within the compliance constraints required for government contracts. You will collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performance data solutions in a mission-critical environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Designing, building, deploying, maintaining, and enhancing the Elastic Logstash Kibana (ELK) platform.
- Installing and configuring ELK.
- Building data pipelines to ingest external datasets into Elastic products.
- Developing and demonstrating the use of Elastic search Indices, Elastic search APIs, Kibana Dashboards, Log Stash, and Beats.
- Using or creating plug-ins for ELK-like authentication and authorization plug-ins.
- Integrating ELK with enterprise tools and APIs, such as for authentication and authorization.
- Designing and implementing complex development use cases and scenarios using programming languages such as Python, Groovy, and Bash.
- Demonstrate the ability to use Elastic Search Cluster Monitoring Tools.
- Security & Compliance: Ensure all data engineering activities meet federal security and compliance standards (such as FISMA, FedRAMP, and other agency-specific requirements), including data encryption, access controls, and auditing.
- Documentation: Produce and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for data pipelines, architecture, processes, and compliance procedures.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues related to ELK environments, applications, data pipelines, and integrations in a timely manner.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay current with emerging ELK features, best practices, and federal data management requirements, and proactively recommend improvements to enhance the agency’s analytics capabilities.
- Able to communicate project progress, technical challenges, and solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- Must be a US Citizen with an active Secret clearance.
- Must have 6+ years of software engineering experience
- At least 2 years of experience as an Elastic Cloud on Kubernetes (ECK) admin or equivalent role.
- At least 2 years of experience with Elasticsearch Domain Specific Language (DSL).
- At least 5 years of experience with Kubernetes architecture.
- Strong knowledge of ELK stack.
- Knowledge of scripting languages, such as Python, JavaScript, Bash, etc.
- Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional collaboration and documentation
Desired Qualifications
- Elastic certification, such as: Elastic Certified Engineer, Elastic Certified Analyst, or Elastic Certified Observable Engineer
- Kubernetes certification, such as: Kubernetes and Cloud Native Associate (KCNA), Kubernetes and Cloud Native Security Associate (KCSA), Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD), Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), or Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist (CKS)
- DoD 8570.1-M Compliance at IAT Level I (e.g., Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)) certification is highly desired
