NYC Part Time Driver - EVOC Required

The role of the driver is critical in ensuring the organization’s ability to carry out its mission in service to Organ Procurement Organizations (OPO’s) and Transplant Centers. The role of On Call Driver at Trinity Air Medical TAM is responsible for the day-to-day logistical operations required by its customers. Location:
Must live within 30-40 minutes of Teterboro Airport in New Jersey
Schedule:
Part-time: 2-3 24 hour on call shifts
Full time: 4-5 24 hour on call shifts
Compensation:
$25 per hour
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide professional ground transportation for TAM customers.
- Team transport- the driver will be asked to provide ground transportation for customers to/from hospitals and airports. It is expected that the driver attends to all needs of the team including catering requests, providing en-route snacks/drinks, and delivering door-to-door in a safe and efficient manner.
- Specimen transport- the driver will be asked to pick up and deliver blood specimens/organs/scans to hospitals and laboratories. It is expected that the driver is on time, handles the specimen with the utmost care, and delivers to the proper delivery station.
- OPO deliveries- the driver will asked to pick up and deliver items, equipment, paperwork, and other necessities to and from donor headquarters and hospitals. It is expected that the driver is on time, handles cargo with the utmost care, and delivers to the proper delivery station.
- TAM business- the driver will be asked to perform daily driving functions for TAM- driving guests, servicing vehicles, picking up equipment, special events, etc.
- The driver will demonstrate a good working knowledge of all vehicles.
- The driver will be expected to obey all traffic laws and operate all vehicles in a safe manner.
- The driver will be expected to perform daily vehicle and facilities inspections compliant with processes outlined by Ground Transportation Supervisor.
- The driver will be expected to perform all office duties outlined by the Ground Transportation Supervisor (cleaning of bay/vehicles, trashes, shift pass-off, etc.).
- The driver will be expected to maintain communication with logistics coordinators during any job function, alerting them to any delays, vehicle issues, or customer issues.
- The driver will be expected to keep their status up to date at all times during any job function. This includes commenting/documenting any special instructions or scenarios.
- The driver will be expected to report any issues regarding fleet to the appropriate supervisor.
- Adheres to all documentation requirements for TAM customers.
- Driver must demonstrate an ability to make effective decisions.
- For On Call expectations, the driver will be expected to respond to logistics coordinators in no more than 10 minutes if contacted for check-in or a job function.
- The driver will be expected to have an appropriate full uniform/shoes with them in the event they are not responding from home.
- The driver will be expected to always have a working cell phone/in-service contact number. This includes remaining in areas with full cell coverage and the ability to respond.
- The driver will be expected to communicate any issues/delays with performing trips/calls at any given time of the day (appointments, late coming off a second job, etc.).
- The driver will be expected to show up on time, well rested in uniform, and able to drive continuously for the duration of the shift without putting themselves or passengers at risk.
- Participate in ongoing training and development.
- Must develop a basic understanding of OPO and transplant center language as well as aviation and ground language.
- Contribute to the success and performance of the team and organization by achieving key performance metrics set by the Supervisor.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School diploma/GED
- EVOC certification required
- Knowledge of medical terminology related to donation and transplantation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Display integrity, initiative, perseverance, flexibility, teamwork, empathy, and persuasiveness.
- Critically think through all aspects of the dispatch process and make decisions in the best interests of both TAM as well as our Partners.
- Be very organized and able to coordinate projects.
- Must have reliable transportation and a valid Driver’s license.
- Requires the ability to work under stress with numerous interruptions, distractions and changing priorities.
- Must be a proficient and safe driver with a clean 39 month driving record and license.
- Must be able to lift minimum of 50lbs
- Must be able to sit for at least eight hours a day.
- This is a critical safety position therefore the applicant must be able to pass a pre-employment background check.
