Position Summary

The Corporate Controller will be Greenmark’s first accounting and finance hire and will join a small team that includes a President, EVP of Operations, and General Manager.  This position will initially be focused on establishing a strong foundation of accounting and finance processes, assisting in the selection and implementation of technology, and building scalable infrastructure for this growing business. This is an exceedingly hands-on role that will be responsible for all day-to-day accounting processes and will provide financial data to support strategic business decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement best-in-class accounting and finance processes to support the scalable growth of Greenmark Waste Solutions.
  • Own and manage all day-to-day accounting functions, including managing journal entries, accounts payable and receivable, financial statement preparation, expense analysis, budgeting, forecasting, payroll, taxes, and treasury.
  • Ensure proper classification of balance sheet activity and proper accruals.
  • Proactively ensure we are meeting all compliance requirements and coordinate with external advisors as needed.
  • Lead cash flow management activities, including weekly cash forecasting, as well as managing vendor payments and accelerating customer collections.
  • Analyze financial data as needed and present insights to support strategic decision making.
  • Support ability to make data-driven decisions by ensuring budgets and reports are designed to capture what is most valuable to the team; assist with extracting insights and translating the data into practical business application
  • Support operational team with ad-hoc analyses as needed
  • Proactively and continuously seek out areas to improve processes and gain efficiencies as the business grows.
  • Work independently, earn a reputation as a trusted team member who will always do the right thing, and communicate proactively.
  • Be a brand ambassador for Greenmark, driving a culture of excellence and true partnership with team members and external stakeholders.

 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or an MBA is a plus
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation
  • 5+ years of experience, including experience in a Big 4 accounting firm or equivalent large national accounting firm experience
  • Industry experience in business services, industrial services, or environmental services is a plus
  • Prior supervisory role experience is a plus
  • Prior experience utilizing and/or setting up accounting software and processes in a startup or high growth environment is a plus

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Character Traits

  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, financial reporting standards, and internal controls and processes
  • Strong skills setting up, utilizing, and optimizing modern technology
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Proficiency with Microsoft BI, Tableau, or similar data visualization software
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, work autonomously, and manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Learner mindset, with innate curiosity that drives figuring out solutions and learning new things
