Precise Capital - Handyman / Maintenance Technician / Ranch Hand

 

Position Summary

The Handyman / Maintenance Technician / Ranch Hand role is a new position that will be responsible for day-to-day indoor and outdoor maintenance operations and projects associated with a new office and 150-acre campus as well as ranch properties owned by Precise Capital, a private investment group headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas.

We are looking for someone who enjoys a wide variety of hands-on work that includes projects related to building maintenance, landscaping, and ranch hand duties. The ideal person has strong mechanical skills and an engineering mindset, the type of person who has a high capacity for figuring things out and has earned a reputation as the “go-to” person for just about anything that needs to be fixed or maintained with excellence.

This role requires travel between multiple locations but will primarily be located at the company’s new headquarters (currently under construction) and ranch property located in Parker County, Texas.

The person in this role will work independently much of the time to manage tasks and projects, yet we are looking for someone with professional communication skills and a strong customer service orientation as this person will represent our brand in interactions with other team members and service providers.

This role will have seasonal fluctuations of activity and will require occasional after hours and weekends, as well as the ability to handle unexpected events, however we also offer schedule flexibility and encourage achieving a balanced lifestyle.

Responsibilities

  • Manage projects and day-to-day maintenance for the company office and ranch properties
  • Be the “go-to” person for projects big and small, handling what can be handled independently, and coordinating with external contractors for specialized tasks
  • Perform outdoor maintenance, including mowing, trimming and landscaping
  • Conduct general repairs and maintenance (i.e., plumbing, electrical, carpentry)
  • Provide seasonal support on the ranches, including filling fish and deer feeders
  • Proactively monitor all areas indoors and outdoors to ensure proper condition and function of structures, landscape, plumbing, and electrical, including irrigation and lighting
  • Run errands for supplies and equipment as needed
  • Oversee maintenance of equipment and land, including roads, fences, ponds, shops, water wells
  • Manage one-off projects, such as relocating the company office, assembling furniture, setting up gym equipment, etc., as they arise
  • Be a positive ambassador of our brand both inside and outside the company by exemplifying integrity and admirable character

 

Education & Experience

  • 7+ years of career experience as a handyman, in construction, as a property manager, ranch hand, or in another role using skills that transfer well to this job
  • Experience in landscaping and working outdoors
  • Mechanically inclined with a technical hobby is a plus
  • Clean driving record
  • Advanced experience in project management with responsibility for managing timeline to completion
  • Experience that demonstrates the ability to interface professionally and successfully with a wide variety of stakeholders, including service providers, discerning clientele, and executives and their family members.

 

Preferred Skills

  • Strong mechanical skills, handyman capabilities, and basic engineering skills
  • Basic plumbing troubleshooting and repair (e.g. PVC plumbing repair; addressing septic or water heating/softening issues, etc.)
  • Basic electrical troubleshooting and repair (e.g. mending electrical wires, replacing electrical fuses, etc.)
  • Fence repair and/or basic ironwork and welding
  • Basic small equipment maintenance and repair (e.g., maintaining mowers and trimmers, power tools, and generators; ability to replace filters/carburetors, etc.)
  • Basic vehicle maintenance (e.g., batteries, tires, and fluids on ranch trucks, UTVs, tractors, golf carts)
  • Experience with brush clearing and chain sawing (hand clearing)
  • Heavy equipment operation and maintenance (tractors, UTVs, skid steers, backhoes)
