We deliver within a 100-mile radius of our location in Fairfield, NJ so having knowledge of this area, including the five boroughs of New York, will be important. Even more important though is the ability to manage outcomes with joy, creativity, and speed amid our daily business.
If you thrive on helping get the right load to the right place at the right time and enjoy a sense of accomplishment when you know your personal contribution made a difference, this one’s for you! This position requires an early start and occasionally requires above and beyond hours to ensure a job well done, although the standard 4:30am – 1:30pm shift allows you to have afternoons and weekends for family or personal time.
Plan for an eight-week ramp-up period with our existing team who are excited to show you the ropes and coach you on our current processes and market-leading technology. This role comes with a career path to move into management after successfully mastering dispatch.
In this role you will:
- Input customer orders and coordinate logistics
- Manage the daily operations of drivers, vehicles and routes
- Monitor traffic, anticipate delays and communicate alternate routes to drivers
- Organize and prepare for next day routes, vehicles and drivers
- Understand customer needs and trends within the industry for scheduling and on-demand needs

A Day in the Life Might Include:
- You receive a call from a client who has an urgent need and you already have a truck scheduled for a delivery in the area, so you determine if the trucker has enough room and enough time to complete both deliveries. You negotiate the delivery time with the standing client so you can fit the urgent delivery in, and you win them both over with great customer service.
- An urgent call comes in from the power company just 30 minutes before the end of your shift. They have an outage and they need a part asap to take care of the local community. You understand what is at stake and the importance of seeing this through, and you figure out the fastest way to make it happen. Even though your shift will be longer, you feel great about doing your best work to help people and you’ve set a great example of leadership for the team.
- You have a delivery in a construction zone and it’s unclear where the trucker will be able to unload. You call the client and proactively find out everything you need to know for a smooth delivery, including clear guidance on where to unload, who on their team will be there to receive the delivery, and exactly what they need from our driver when they arrive. You relay all the info to the driver and then help them navigate to their point of contact. Everyone knows what is supposed to happen when they arrive, and a complex delivery is seamless!
Location & Hours:
- This position will work on-site in Fairfield, NJ.
- The minimum on-duty hours are 4:30am – 1:30pm, Monday through Friday. This role requires an ownership mentality to see the job through, assist with busy periods, and transition to the afternoon shift, so longer shifts are occasionally required.
