Position Summary

DuraPlas is now hiring a Human Resources Manager to support the needs of our growing business and to influence our ability to provide an environment where team members enjoy coming to work and perform at their full potential every day.

This is a great opportunity for an HR professional who is looking for a long-term, stable role. The right candidate will be bilingual to support our largely Spanish-speaking workforce and has experience in a manufacturing or similar workforce environment with proven success sourcing talent, influencing a positive workplace culture, and increasing employee retention.

In this role, you will work closely with senior leadership, so we are looking for someone who is confident in their ability to make recommendations, but also comfortable deferring to the direction of others and shifting priorities to accommodate the needs of a growing business. This role is ideal for someone who values consistency, enjoys building long-lasting relationships, and takes pride in providing steady, reliable HR support. The HR Manager will oversee one strong HR Coordinator and reports directly to the CFO.  We have close to 175 employees, most of whom work in manufacturing operations in the main building of our three-building campus in Addison, Texas. We value open communication, accessibility, and the camaraderie that comes from working together in person.  This position will work on-site Monday through Friday with an expectation of an 8-hour workday within the window of 7am-5pm.

 

Key Responsibilities

In collaboration with our company leadership, identify and manage human resources strategic initiatives and priorities, and execute day-to-day operations in the following areas:

1)  Talent Strategy, Acquisition & Retention

  • Partner with hiring managers to understand and plan for workforce needs.
  • Manage candidate sourcing and the full hiring process for open positions.
  • Research and make recommendations on programs to positively impact employee retention.
  • Partner with managers to ensure they have the knowledge and tools to effectively manage their direct reports, and provide guidance on how to handle HR issues, including accommodations, investigations, and terminations.

2)  Employee Relations & Engagement

  • Collaborate with the management team to assess training needs and implement programs to build skills, engage team members, and improve productivity.
  • Serve as the primary contact for employee concerns, conflict resolution, and disciplinary actions.
  • Foster a positive, performance-driven workplace culture.
  • Lead engaging Culture Committee initiatives that appeal to team members across the company.

3)  Compliance & Safety

  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; review policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Support workplace safety initiatives in collaboration with plant management.

4)  Compensation, Payroll & Benefits 

  • Monitor the effectiveness of existing compensation practices and recommend changes that are consistent with current trends and corporate objectives.
  • Oversee payroll administration to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely processing.
  • Oversee the administration of employee benefits programs and ensure that these programs support the company’s business objectives while responsibly managing the Company’s investment.

5)  Team Leadership

  • Provide oversight, management, and leadership to HR Coordinator, ensuring a balanced workload and ongoing development opportunities.
  • Own HR-related special projects as they come up and delegate as appropriate to HR Coordinator.

6)  Continuous Improvement

  • Stay current on HR trends, best practices, and regulatory changes, especially on matters that are unique to plastics manufacturing.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for the HR team to participate in ongoing learning and development, such as attending SHRM events or HR conferences. 
  • Recommend process improvements to strengthen HR effectiveness.

 

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field
  • 3+ years human resources management experience that provides familiarity with each of the key responsibilities above
  • Experience in a small to mid-size manufacturing company or a business with a similar hourly workforce composition
  • Proven success in hiring, influencing a positive workplace culture, and impacting employee retention
  • Experience with Culture Index is a plus
  • PHR, SHRM and/or other HR trainings and certifications are a plus

 

Skills & Character Traits

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
  • Comfort with utilizing modern technology for HR administration (We use ExponentHR for HR/Payroll/Reporting/Benefits and SimplyWork for time keeping)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to communicate effectively and earn trust at all levels of the organization
  • Detail oriented with strong planning, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Ability to swiftly change and adapt to the needs of a growing company
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws, regulations, and HR best practices and self-motivated to continue learning
  • Highly empathetic and confident in balancing the needs of individuals with the needs of the business
  • Committed to always doing the right thing and acting with integrity
  • Able to provide strong references from prior employment

 

Location & Hours

  • On-site in Addison, Texas
  • Mon-Fri, standard business hours with some flexibility

 

Compensation

  • Base salary: $100-110,000; commensurate with experience
  • In addition to the base salary, this position is eligible for a quarterly performance bonus tied to measurable objectives
