Technical Product Owner

Toronto, ON, Canada

Founded in 2017, TripArc is a $750 million privately held company powers the top Travel Agencies and Tour Operators in North America. Our expansive and growing network empowers seamless access to a comprehensive range of travel options and services globally with over $750 million transactions annually - all at the industry’s best rates.

As an industry leader in technology, purchasing, finance, HR and marketing, we know how to deliver solutions to travel professionals in the most effective way possible. With deep experience in partnering with two leading brands in the luxury travel space – Kensington Tours and Travel Edge – TripArc has real insight into the needs of tour operators and travel agencies today.

TripArc’s goals are simple. To make our network of over 1400 travel entities more profitable, efficient and help them create truly unique travel for their clients.

TripArc is hiring a Technical Product Owner to work alongside our Software Design & Architecture team, owning the cross-platform view that individual pods can't maintain on their own.

This isn't a traditional PO role embedded in one squad. You sit across the platform: mapping how services, APIs, data contracts, and workflows connect between Product Builder, ADX, the Vacations Platform, and the integrations layer. You translate architecture decisions into requirements that delivery teams can act on, and you surface platform-level dependencies before they become delivery blockers.

You bring strong technical instincts, a working understanding of modern AI tooling, and the SDLC fluency to operate confidently from discovery through deployment.

What You'll Work On

  • Cross-platform solution mapping: working with the Solutions Architecture team to document how platform components connect, identify integration gaps, and define the contracts between systems
  • Requirements that span teams: eliciting, structuring, and maintaining requirements that touch more than one pod or product line, ensuring consistency across delivery
  • AI-assisted delivery: actively using AI coding tools (GitHub Copilot, Claude, Cursor) and AI-assisted analysis as part of how you work, not as an experiment
  • Backlog support at the platform level: working with product owners across pods to surface shared dependencies, prevent redundant work, and maintain a coherent platform backlog view
  • Technical documentation: producing integration specs, data flow diagrams, API contract summaries, and decision logs that engineering teams can act on directly
  • Scrum ceremony participation: contributing to planning, refinement, and retrospectives across pods where platform concerns are in scope

What We're Looking For

Technical foundation

  • 4-7 years in a Business Analyst, Product Owner, or technical solutions-focused role on software delivery teams
  • Comfortable reading REST API documentation, OpenAPI/Swagger specs, and data models: not just translating them, but identifying gaps and asking the right questions
  • Hands-on with Jira, Confluence, and Agile tooling as your daily operating environment
  • SQL fluency sufficient to validate data behaviour and support integration analysis
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure preferred) and modern microservices architectures
  • Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and environment promotion: you understand what "shipped to staging" means in practice

AI fluency

  • Actively uses AI development tools (Copilot, Claude, Cursor, or equivalent) as a standard part of how you work
  • Experience leveraging AI for requirements synthesis, documentation generation, or analysis workflows is a strong asset
  • Deep experience with AI-assisted development or agentic pipelines is a meaningful differentiator for this role

Process and communication

  • Strong documentation instincts, you produce artefacts that reduce ambiguity, not just record discussions
  • Comfortable facilitating workshops with technical and non-technical stakeholders at the same table
  • Able to hold a platform-level view while engaging at the detail level a developer or architect needs
  • Experience working across multiple concurrent workstreams without losing thread

Nice to have

  • Experience in travel, e-commerce, logistics, or marketplace platform environments
  • Familiarity with MongoDB, aggregation pipelines, or document-oriented data modelling
  • Exposure to event-driven architecture patterns (Service Bus, NServiceBus, or similar)
  • Prior experience in a cross-functional or platform-level BA or solutions architecture support role

How We Build

We expect every member of this team, including our POs, to use AI tools as a standard part of how they work. Not as a novelty. If you've figured out how to get real leverage from AI-assisted analysis, documentation, and communication without cutting corners on rigour, you'll fit right in here. We move fast, we care about quality, and we hold both at the same time.

Why This Role

TripArc is building across multiple platform layers simultaneously. The decisions being made now will define the architecture for years, like how Product Builder integrates with ADX, how the Vacations Platform sources from the catalogue, how AI pipelines connect to booking flows. This role sits at the center of that, you won't be cleaning up someone else's documentation — you'll be building the shared understanding that lets the whole platform move together. We know that our success is dependent on the people who join our team, which is why we recruit the best. Our team is made up of owners; people who are smart, low ego, and accountable for their results. We all play a part in the success of the company and are proud of what we do!

We provide a competitive compensation package with a strong pay for performance rewards approach. Employees have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and compensation tied to business and individual performance. The expected compensation base for this position is up to $100,000 CAD.

The actual compensation may vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
