Lab Services Coordinator

Triumvirate Environmental, one of the largest environmental services firms in North America, is seeking a Lab Services Coordinator for our Southern California team.

This highly motivated leader will be collaborative while being highly influential and leading change to manage both direct reports and assigned or secondment resources who do not report directly to the portfolio manager.

This position reports to Southern California Operations Manager. 

 Responsibilities:

Personnel Management:

  • Manage a team of Environmental Specialists
  • Coaching Environmental Specialists, Material Handlers, and Environmental Technicians. through the advancement program through regular 1:1 meeting, at least monthly
  • Provide feedback and professional guidance to onsite staff
  • Work collaboratively with inside operations to ensure staff are meeting all training milestones, safety deliverables, and generally adhering to TEI programs and policies
  • Serve as an advocate for TEI internal programs including STOP program, ROPE/TALK mentorships, and CDL driver programs
  • Complete required administrative tasks including timesheet, expense report and PTO approval
  • Verify direct reports adhere to TEI policies and quality standards
  • Deliver trainings to new hires, including support of the yearlong onboarding program
  • Contribute to the growth of Triumvirate via knowledge and methodology sharing, case studies, proposal development, marketing collateral assistance, and recruiting.
  • Ensure that required administrative tasks (timesheets, backlog reports, expenses) are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Rotating on-call responsibilities as part of our Emergency Response team

Lab Services Coordination

  • Hands-on management of Lab Services projects to ensure high quality service delivery and customer satisfaction
  • Scope projects for new and existing clients to ensure proper project planning
  • Understand and anticipate customer needs related to Lab Services projects
  • Support the Technical Services Team in facilitating customer and internal communication
  • Deliver the WOW
  • Create and review pack strategies and ensure onsite staff are trained to them
  • Participate in disposals from top ten Onsite Support Services accounts, assist with adherence to pack strategy and process
  • Complete site visits for Lab Services projects and for Onsite Support Services accounts with a focus on targeted training of employees on lab packing, waste routing, and disposal
  • Become an expert in high hazard work, liaise with corporate High Haz Team
  • Improve and promote general safety culture
  • Active STOP Audit participation member
  • Routinely review Health and Safety Plans while working in the field and completing site audits
  • Maintain and track usage of field laptops and printers
  • Host routine Projects Team meetings to communicate project updates, training, financial discussions, and open forum discussions
  • Active participant in contract and account reviews with cost recovery team
  • Gain baseline knowledge of account contracts
  • Be a primary technical resource for the Sales Team regarding Lab Services work, assist with costing and quoting
  • Work with Service Managers to track revenue and profit margins, report on these to Sales and Executive Teams.

 

Basic Requirements:

  • BS in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, or other related majors, or equivalent required
  • 2+ year(s) of experience in the hazardous waste field, or relative experience
  • Prior knowledge, experience, and compliance with DOT, RCRA, and other applicable regulations
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without future sponsorship
  • Must have a reliable form of transportation
  • Must be willing to consent to Motor Vehicle Record screening, criminal background check, pre-employment physical, and drug screen (inclusive of THC)
  • Upon employment, you will be required to participate in a random drug screening program (inclusive of THC) as part of our company’s commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment
  • Must be able to lift 60 pounds on a regular basis
  • Ability to work overtime on a regular basis
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours within the work week (Monday through Friday)
  • Must be able to report to designated office within 1 hour during Emergency Response rotating shifts
  • The Lab Services Coordinator frequently handles hazardous chemicals and biological waste and is responsible for putting on and taking off personal protective equipment. This role is considered safety sensitive.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Prior relevant industry experience
  • Active HAZWOPER 24- or 40-hour certification
  • Willingness to obtain Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
