Environmental Health & Safety Consulting Manager

Environmental Health & Safety Consulting Manager
Triumvirate Environmental is one of the largest integrated environmental, health, and safety (EHS) services firms in North America, serving life sciences, healthcare, higher education, and advanced manufacturing sectors. Our model combines on-site embedded specialists, project-based consulting, field services, and waste management into a single platform that delivers comprehensive support no pure-play competitor can replicate. With more than 500 embedded professionals working inside client facilities across the country, we maintain deep, enduring relationships with many of the most recognized names in pharmaceutical manufacturing, biotechnology, and medical devices. We are in a significant growth phase, scaling our consulting and professional services division substantially over the next several years.
What sets Triumvirate apart is that we do not just manage waste — we transform it. Our Plastics4Purpose program, built over more than a decade, converts tens of millions of pounds of regulated medical and laboratory plastics into commercial products every year. Combined with embedded specialists who drive daily waste reduction inside client facilities and a consulting team that designs the multi-year programs to make it durable, we deliver the kind of measurable, self-funding outcomes clients actively want in their plans.
The EHS Consulting Manager leads a portfolio of consulting and embedded services accounts, pairing deep technical EHS expertise with account leadership to deliver outstanding client outcomes, grow relationships, and develop a high-performing team. You will serve as the connection point between our on-site specialists and our consulting practice, ensuring that every client interaction strengthens the partnership. You will support embedded consulting operations as well as EHS consulting projects.
What distinguishes this role from a traditional EHS consulting position is the integrated model behind you. Triumvirate's embedded specialists work inside client facilities every day, generating real-time insight into operational and compliance needs that no outside consultancy can match. Your ability to convert that insight into high-value programs — and to orchestrate the right mix of consulting, embedded, and waste services for each client — is what defines success in this role.
The ideal candidate brings both technical depth across multiple EHS disciplines and the commercial instinct to grow accounts, lead proposals, and manage engagement economics. What matters most is a proven record of solving complex EHS challenges, earning the trust of senior client leadership, and building long-term relationships that expand over time.
Essential Responsibilities
- Lead complex, multi-disciplinary EHS assessments and programs spanning occupational safety, industrial hygiene, environmental compliance, biosafety, radiation safety, and process safety.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to client stakeholders at the site EHS Director and VP levels, owning client satisfaction, retention, and account renewals.
- Support EHS consulting operations through technical billable delivery, project management, quality control, and oversite of delivery services.
- Grow a portfolio of consulting and embedded accounts by identifying expansion opportunities, leading proposals, and bringing the right mix of Triumvirate services to each client.
- Manage multi-workstream consulting and embedded engagements with disciplined scope, budget, and milestone control, consistently delivering high-quality work on time and on budget.
- Lead and develop a team of 6 to 10 EHS consultants, creating clear development plans, career pathways, and quality standards that raise the performance of the practice.
- Provide training, technical guidance, and quality review of the work performed by your team.
- Spot new opportunities from on-site observations and client conversations, and partner with sales and field teams to convert them into scoped engagements.
- Make pricing and scope decisions that optimize total client value across our integrated consulting, embedded, and waste services model.
- Interpret evolving regulatory requirements and translate them into practical, actionable programs that keep clients ahead of their compliance obligations.
Required Qualifications
- 6 to 10 years of progressive EHS consulting or corporate EHS experience, including accountability for client or program outcomes.
- Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, industrial hygiene, environmental science, engineering, or a related field — or equivalent professional experience.
- At least one relevant professional certification (CSP, CIH, CHMM, CBSP, or equivalent), held or actively being pursued.
- Demonstrated expertise across two or more EHS disciplines, with the ability to interpret complex regulations including RCRA, OSHA, air, water, and EHS management systems.
- Experience managing client accounts or portfolios with accountability for satisfaction, renewals, and growth.
- Experience leading and developing teams, including consultants and on-site personnel.
- A track record of leading proposals and managing engagement economics — scope, budget, and margin.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present to senior client leadership.
- Willingness to travel, with client-site presence of 40 to 60%.
- Must have a reliable form of transportation
- Must be willing to work flexible hours within the work week (Monday through Friday) with overtime as necessary
Preferred Requirements:
- EHS consulting experience in life sciences, healthcare, or advanced manufacturing such as battery, semiconductor, or aerospace. Or direct industry experience working in the aforementioned verticals.
- Multiple professional certifications.
- Experience managing accounts across an integrated or blended-services model.
- A history of business development or cross-sell success built on client relationships.
- Familiarity with EHS management and tracking platforms such as Intelex.
