Job Description

The Quality Specialist role has a primary focus on color matching and color approval execution, while also supporting broader quality work based on business need and individual strengths. Regarding color, this role owns color match verification, tolerance execution, factory/material expansion approvals, and mass production color consistency. The Quality Specialist will be the SME and owner of Trove’s primary color measurement equipment and will develop and continuously improve color approval workflows. This role will also take on some additional responsibilities within the areas of quality inspection process and data optimization, supplier corrective actions (SCAR), issue resolution, and new category quality support.

  • Evaluate and approve color matches across materials and finished goods, including factory/supplier expansions, material/finish changes, and production transfers.
  • Coordinate directly with manufacturers on sampling plans, data review, corrective actions, and approval decisions.
  • Investigate recurring mismatches and drive root-cause resolution to prevent repeat issues and reduce rework.
  • Own Trove’s color measurement equipment and standards (SOPs, measurement conditions, calibration/maintenance, training, and data integrity).
  • Implement tracking and reporting to reduce iteration cycles, improve consistency, and identify recurring process gaps.
  • Lead adoption of Trove’s color measurement approach with suppliers—onboarding new factories to the equipment/workflows as the program scales.
  • Design, document, and continuously improve end-to-end color approval workflows, including clear pass/fail criteria, escalation paths, and required approval artifacts.
  • Partner with Marketing/Creative and Product Development to define objective tolerances and maintain color documentation for current and new categories/materials.
  • Support improvement of inspection processes and better use of inspection data to drive decisions and reduce defects.
  • Lead or support investigation and resolution of quality issues, coordinating internally and with suppliers as needed.
  • Provide quality support for new categories, including defining expectations and helping evaluate and resolve quality issues.

Job Qualifications

  • 3+ years’ experience in product quality, materials, manufacturing, and product development support (consumer goods preferred).
  • Hands-on comfort with measurement tools, technical specs, and making clear pass/fail decisions.
  • Strong organization and documentation habits; able to build repeatable processes.
  • Ability to learn new tools and technical concepts quickly (e.g., measuring equipment, product categories, etc.).
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both creative and technical teams/stakeholders, as well as factory/supplier partners.
  • Coursework, certification, strong interest, or practical experience in color science, color theory, or color measurement.
  • Familiarity with CIE L*a*b* color space, ΔE, and tolerance setting concepts.
  • Experience working with overseas factories/suppliers or technical vendor communication.
  • Experience creating SOPs/work instructions and improving workflows.
