Inventory Planning Analyst

The Inventory Planning Analyst is responsible for managing inventory planning, forecasting, replenishment, and supply chain coordination for assigned 3PL operations and key retail accounts. This role works cross-functionally with Sales, Purchasing, Supply Chain, Operations, and external customers to ensure inventory is positioned accurately to support demand while maintaining healthy inventory levels across the network.
This position plays a critical role in balancing inventory at the right place, right time, and right quantity to support customer service levels, operational efficiency, and company growth objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage inventory planning and replenishment activities for assigned 3PL locations and customer accounts.
- Monitor inventory levels, inventory health, forecast accuracy, and replenishment timing to support customer demand and operational goals.
- Utilize forecasting and planning systems, including Blue Ridge, to maintain and improve demand planning accuracy.
- Collaborate closely with Sales teams to identify upcoming promotions, demand fluctuations, customer opportunities, seasonal trends, and operational forecasts.
- Partner with Purchasing and Supply Chain teams to determine product ordering needs, supplier selection, lead times, and factory allocation strategies based on cost, service, and inventory requirements.
- Monitor product movement throughout the full supply chain pipeline from factory production through final inventory destination.
- Balance inventory across multiple 3PL locations and shared SKU networks by reallocating inventory where appropriate before initiating new factory orders.
- Analyze inventory health reports and operational data to identify risks, shortages, excess inventory, slow-moving products, and improvement opportunities.
- Develop strategies to reduce excess inventory and storage costs while maintaining appropriate service levels and product availability.
- Support S&OP processes by preparing and presenting inventory analysis, demand trends, forecasting updates, and inventory action plans to leadership and cross-functional teams.
- Maintain data accuracy through reporting, inventory analysis, system maintenance, and operational audits.
- Communicate effectively across departments to manage priorities, resolve issues, and coordinate inventory-related initiatives.
- Participate in customer meetings, calls, and occasional travel to support relationship building, forecasting collaboration, and operational alignment with key accounts.
- Manage multiple priorities, projects, and operational tasks in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strong attention to detail and execution accuracy.
Qualifications & Skills
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Experience with inventory planning, demand forecasting, supply chain operations, or replenishment planning preferred.
- Ability to interpret inventory data, forecasting trends, and operational metrics to drive business decisions.
- Strong communication and relationship management skills with the ability to work cross-functionally and interact professionally with customers and leadership teams.
- Experience working with forecasting or ERP systems preferred; Blue Ridge experience is a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and reporting analysis.
- Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced, high-demand environment.
