VP of Software

A new space race has begun. True Anomaly seeks those with the talent and ambition to build innovative technology that solves the next generation of engineering, manufacturing, and operational challenges for space security and sustainability.

OUR MISSION

The peaceful use of space is essential for continued prosperity on Earth—from communications and finance to navigation and logistics. True Anomaly builds innovative technology at the intersection of spacecraft, software, and AI to enhance the capabilities of the U.S., its allies, and commercial partners. We safeguard global security by ensuring space access and sustainability for all.

OUR VALUES

Be the Offset.  We create asymmetric advantages with creativity and ingenuity

What would it take?  We challenge assumptions to deliver ambitious results

It’s the People. Our team is our competitive advantage, and we are better together

YOUR MISSION

At True Anomaly, software is the nervous system of our spacecraft, simulations, and mission operations. As Vice President of Software, you’ll own the vision and execution of the software stack that makes space superiority real: from autonomous spacecraft flight code to scalable ground infrastructure, real-time simulations, AI-driven decision tools, and visualization platforms that give operators clarity and speed in the fight.

You’ll lead and grow a multidisciplinary team that thrives at the intersection of mission urgency and engineering excellence. Your mandate: deliver secure, resilient, and certifiable systems at the speed of conflict. That means building architectures that scale, pipelines that move fast without breaking, and visualization capabilities that transform data into actionable decisions. Above all, you’ll set and enforce a culture of excellence, accountability, and delivery — where performance standards are as high as the stakes.

This role demands a rare mix: deep technical fluency across embedded, autonomy, and cloud layers and the ability to shape strategy, trade-offs, and roadmaps that span multiple products and operational contexts. Your leadership will define how our constellation maneuvers, how our operators train, how decisions get made in real time, and ultimately how our allies prevail in contested space.

Collaboration is key. You’ll work hand-in-hand with Product, Hardware, Operations, and Executive teams to align technical breakthroughs with business objectives, ensuring True Anomaly delivers not just capability, but advantage.

If you’re driven to build world-class teams, engineer for speed and resilience, and want your work to matter in the most contested domain of the 21st century — this is your mission.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the full software enterprise — from flight code and autonomy frameworks to mission systems, DevSecOps, ground software, simulation infrastructure, and AI/ML-enabled applications.
  • Own the architecture and product roadmap — set the technical vision, drive modular and resilient designs, and align execution with strategic capability growth.
  • Build and scale a world-class organization — recruit top talent, develop the next generation of technical leaders, and set a culture of excellence, accountability, and delivery.
  • Drive the development lifecycle — enforce standards for CI/CD, validation, configuration control, certification, and simulation fidelity, ensuring speed without sacrificing rigor.
  • Partner across functions — work shoulder-to-shoulder with peers in Hardware, Production, Test, and Mission Operations to deliver integrated systems at operational tempo.
  • Champion compliance and trust — meet and exceed RMF, and other defense software requirements while enabling innovation under constraint.
  • Shape the future of mission software — balance near-term program execution with long-term architectural bets that deliver decisive advantage.
  • Command resources with intent — own budgets, vendors, and scaling strategies that keep the software team lean, agile, and mission-ready.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related field
  • 15+ years of experience in embedded software and systems engineering, with at least 5 years in executive or senior leadership roles
  • Proven leadership of software organizations
  • Experience delivering mission-critical software in aerospace, defense, automotive, or similarly regulated industries
  • Fluent across the stack — from C/C++, React and real-time operating systems to DevOps pipelines, system integration, and front-end/back-end platforms.
  • Excellent communication skills, emotional intelligence and a passion for leadership
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience fielding flight software or autonomy systems in space or aerospace platforms
  • Familiarity with AI/ML operations, sensor fusion, and ground system architectures
  • Track record scaling products from prototype to deployment across multiple customer platforms
  • Executive experience managing software across multiple product baselines

COMPENSATION

  • Base Salary: $200,000-$370,000
  • Equity + Benefits including Health, Dental, Vision, HRA/HSA options, FTO and paid holidays, 401K, Parental Leave

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education and experience.

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

A "recently separated veteran" means any veteran during the three-year period beginning on the date of such veteran's discharge or release from active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval, or air service.

An "active duty wartime or campaign badge veteran" means a veteran who served on active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service during a war, or in a campaign or expedition for which a campaign badge has been authorized under the laws administered by the Department of Defense.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
