YOUR MISSION 

We're looking for a Business Intelligence Engineer to turn data into actionable insights that drive better business decisions. You'll work alongside business analysts and developers to build data warehousing solutions, create scalable reporting infrastructure, and deliver dashboards that empower leadership and stakeholders. 

This role goes beyond coding reports. You will own the full lifecycle from securing and collecting data to storing it in centralized repositories, then transforming it into business-ready analytical applications. 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

Data Integration & Warehousing 

  • Build and maintain data warehousing solutions from collection through centralized storage 
  • Connect Power BI to Jira, Confluence, and other Atlassian REST APIs 
  • Integrate custom data sources and third-party platforms as needed 
  • Handle authentication (OAuth, API tokens) for reliable scheduled refresh 
  • Implement pagination and incremental refresh where applicable 
  • Support migration efforts from on-premise to cloud platforms  

Data Modeling & Analytics 

  • Design clean star schema data models optimized for reporting and analysis 
  • Create DAX measures for sprint velocity, cycle time, throughput, and other Agile metrics 
  • Develop custom KPIs for team performance, project health, and operational efficiency 
  • Analyze various data systems to solve complex data problems aligned with business goals 

Dashboard Development & Delivery 

  • Build dashboards for executive summaries, team performance, and project tracking 
  • Leverage advanced analytics to surface meaningful insights 
  • Ensure dashboards are fast, clean, and filterable by date, team, project, and other dimensions 
  • Create data products collaboratively with analysts and developers  

Stakeholder Engagement 

  • Develop relationships with non-technical business stakeholders to understand their needs 
  • Communicate effectively to translate data insights into business recommendations 
  • Partner with clients and leadership to support important business decisions 

Deliverables 

  • Power BI datasets with clean, documented data models and optimized queries 
  • Fully functional dashboards with intuitive filtering and navigation 
  • Documentation for credential setup, refresh configuration, and extending reports 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field 
  • 2–4 years of experience in data analytics or business intelligence 
  • Strong experience with Power BI, Power Query, and DAX 
  • Experience integrating REST APIs into Power BI 
  • Experience with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence) and their APIs 
  • Knowledge of Power BI Service deployment and scheduled refresh 
  • Strong SQL and RDBMS skills 
  • Experience with ETL processes, data transformation, and data warehousing concepts 
  • Understanding of migration techniques from on-premise to cloud platforms 
  • Familiarity with Azure DevOps 
  • Experience working in Agile environments and delivering to tight timescales

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE 

  • Experience with Microsoft enterprise cloud technologies (Dynamics 365, Office 365, Azure) 
  • Experience with OAuth flows in Power BI or API proxy approaches (e.g., Azure Functions) 
  • Experience building reusable datasets for multiple reports 
  • Knowledge of additional Atlassian marketplace apps and integrations 
  • Experience creating custom metrics and KPI frameworks 
  • Exposure to AI/ML integration with analytics platforms 

COMPENSATION  

  • Colorado Base Salary: $125,000-$170,000 
  • California Base Salary: $130,000-$175,000 
  • Equity + Benefits including Health, Dental, Vision, HRA/HSA options, PTO and paid holidays, 401K, Parental Leave 

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education and experience. 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS 

  • Ability to maintain or obtain TS//SCI clearance 
  • Work Location: successful candidates will be located near Centennial, CO or Long Beach, CA. While we observe a hybrid work environment, some work must be done on site. 
  • Work environment is in a standard office, working at a desk or in a production factory. 
  • Physical demands may include frequent standing, sitting, walking, bending, and lifting or carrying items up to 20lbs.
