Responsibilities

Support the development of satellite command and control, mission planning, and data processing software systems using Elixir/Phoenix and TypeScript/React
Contribute to team discussions on architecture, design, and code reviews
Collaborate with engineers across disciplines to build effective systems
Take on well-scoped tasks and features with guidance from experienced engineers
Write tests and follow established testing practices to maintain code quality

Basic Qualifications

Pursuing or recently completed a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
Exposure to functional programming concepts through coursework, personal projects, or prior experience
Introductory experience with Elixir, Erlang, or similar functional languages (e.g., Haskell, Clojure, F#)
Familiarity with full stack frameworks like Phoenix or Ruby on Rails
Basic experience with HTML/CSS and modern JavaScript or TypeScript
Interest in resilient, fault-tolerant system design and distributed systems
Strong written and oral communication skills and aptitude for working across disciplines
Enjoys debugging and problem solving
A strong bias towards understanding how things work rather than accepting the status quo

Preferred Skills and Experience

Familiarity with Elixir and OTP concepts including GenServers, supervision trees, or the Actor model
Familiarity with React or similar modern frontend frameworks
Exposure to databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL
Exposure to testing frameworks or practices in any language
Interest in real-time or game engine backends
Familiarity with authentication concepts such as OAuth2 or role-based access controls

COMPENSATION

Base Salary: $28/hour
