Engineering Manager, eGSE
YOUR MISSION
As an Engineering Manager, eGSE, you will lead the design, development, and delivery of electrical ground support equipment across a program portfolio, setting the technical standard for how we build, scale, and sustain our test infrastructure. You will own rack and enclosure systems from concept through first article, drive standardization across the EGSE portfolio, and serve as a technical anchor for a growing team of engineers and technicians.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Own end-to-end design and delivery of EGSE racks and test enclosures — mechanical layout, electrical schematics, harness design, and full drawing packages from requirements through first article build and check-out
- Lead harness design and fabrication to MIL-spec standards, including connector selection, shielding strategy, crimp inspection, and backshell installation, and define build quality standards for the broader team
- Establish and enforce rack standardization across programs — component selection, parts inventory strategy, and procurement approach to maximize build speed and minimize single-point-of-failure dependencies
- Drive signal integrity and power architecture decisions at the rack and enclosure level, including power and data routing, grounding, shielding, and EMI mitigation
- Develop hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test system architecture and expansion across both emulator-based and flight hardware configurations
- Provide hands-on technical support during test campaigns and bring-up activities, including on-site support at production and test facilities
- Mentor mid-level engineers and technicians, serving as a technical backstop and escalation point for the team
- Develop and maintain thorough documentation for all GSE designs, processes, and changes to ensure traceability and reduce team dependency on any single individual
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- B.S. in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace Engineering, or comparable discipline
- Hands-on experience in EGSE, test systems, or hardware engineering in aerospace, defense, or adjacent high-reliability industries and skill equivalent to engineering level
- Demonstrated experience designing and building harnesses, including crimping, connector inspection, backshell installation, and shielding termination
- Strong proficiency in both mechanical and electrical hardware design — comfortable owning the 3D layout and the schematic for the same system
- Rack-level power and data architecture experience — UPS, lab-grade power supplies, Linux-based control systems, and mixed signal/power environments
- Systematic troubleshooting methodology across power and data systems
- Familiarity with common communication protocols (e.g. Ethernet, RS-232, RS-422, RS-485, CAN, I2C, SPI, EtherCAT) and how to support their signal integrity, grounding, and shielding
- Proficiency with electrical test equipment including oscilloscopes, DMMs, electronic loads, function generators, and bench power supplies
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Aerospace or startup experience — ideally both
- Experience designing or supporting hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test systems
- Mechanical or Electrical CAD experience (e.g. SolidWorks, Altium) including rack layout and schematic capture
- PCB design exposure and understanding of layout principles as they relate to signal integrity
- Test software familiarity (e.g. Python, C++) sufficient to collaborate effectively with software engineers
- PCB and harness rework experience
COMPENSATION
- Base Salary:
- Manager: $150,000-$205,000
- Senior Manager: $165,000-$230,000
- Equity + Benefits including Health, Dental, Vision, HRA/HSA options, PTO and paid holidays, 401K, Parental Leave
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, location, and experience.
