YOUR MISSION

As a Staff Software Engineer on the Digital Engineering team, you will be the senior technical hand building the in-house software behind our digital thread — full-stack applications that become our systems of record for product, manufacturing, and operations data, and the services and integrations that connect them across the product lifecycle. You will set technical direction alongside the principal engineer, architect for scale, reliability, and security, and raise the engineering bar for a growing team while staying deep in the code.

The work goes well beyond connecting tools. Integrations bridge the off-the-shelf systems we run today; the larger job is building the software that takes their place. You will regularly face the question “How do we build software our engineers, buyers, and technicians would rather use — while keeping product data authoritative and traceable?” The data models, applications, and patterns you establish will define how product data is created, changed, and used across the company for years.

This is an ideal role for a senior full-stack engineer who wants deep ownership of foundational products and the platform beneath them, enjoys mentoring, and is energized by building something new in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment. You'll work in an AI-native environment where using AI to accelerate your impact is expected.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Architecture & Design

  • Design the domain data models and workflows for in-house systems of record — parts, revisions, BOMs, change orders, and as-built records — with lifecycle states and end-to-end traceability.
  • Architect the services, APIs, integrations, and event-driven data flows that connect our applications with the off-the-shelf tools they work alongside and, over time, replace.
  • Own significant parts of the network, infrastructure, and security design, including role-based access and audit for export-controlled data.

Technical Execution

  • Build and ship full-stack applications end to end — data model, services and APIs, workflow, and web user interface — and operate them in production.
  • Plan and execute migrations from off-the-shelf tools to in-house software: data migration, parallel operation, and cutover, without breaking traceability.
  • Build in observability, auditability, sync health, and data-quality checks as first-class features.
  • Set and uphold engineering standards — code quality, testing, reviews, and technical documentation.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Mentor senior and early-career engineers and raise the technical bar across the team.
  • Work directly with engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing users to understand real workflows and ship software that fits them.
  • Partner with the teams that own today's engineering and business systems to design integrations and plan migrations that respect how those systems are run.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience, with a track record designing and shipping production applications, services, and system integrations.
  • Experience building user-facing web applications end to end — from data model and APIs to a modern front end (e.g., TypeScript, React).
  • Deep experience with API design, event-driven architectures, and reliably moving and transforming data between disparate systems.
  • Strong grasp of domain data modeling for complex, versioned records, and of keeping data consistent and traceable across multiple systems of record.
  • Experience building for observability, auditability, and data quality in production.
  • Cloud and infrastructure fluency (e.g., AWS), plus strong fundamentals across networking, security, and CI/CD.
  • Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages (e.g., Go, Python).
  • Track record setting technical direction across multiple services or teams and mentoring other engineers, including senior engineers.
  • U.S. Citizen or lawful permanent resident (U.S. Person) as required under ITAR.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience building, extending, or integrating PLM, ERP, manufacturing execution (MES), requirements/ALM, or MBSE systems.
  • Experience migrating an organization from an off-the-shelf system to in-house software, including data migration and user adoption.
  • Strong product sense and experience working directly with engineering, manufacturing, or operations users.
  • Familiarity with digital thread / digital engineering concepts and product-lifecycle data.
  • Experience with Go and building products from an early stage.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform), GitOps, and CI/CD.
  • Background in aerospace, defense, or another regulated, hardware-driven domain.

COMPENSATION

  • Denver, Colorado Base Salary: $170,000 – $245,000
  • Long Beach, California Base Salary: $175,000 – $255,000
  • Equity + Benefits including Health, Dental, Vision, HRA/HSA options, PTO and paid holidays, 401K, Parental Leave

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, location, and experience.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • This role operates in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment supporting national security space operations, where adaptability and rapid decision-making are essential.
  • Requires coordination across distributed teams, including engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, and government partners.
  • May require participation in an on-call and support rotation to keep our software reliable in production.
  • Occasional travel to other company sites, government sites, or partner locations may be required.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.
  • Work Location: this role is hybrid/onsite at our facilities in Denver, CO or Long Beach, CA. #LI-Onsite
  • Work environment is a standard office setting, working at a desk or on a production factory floor.
  • Physical demands may include frequent standing, sitting, walking, bending, and lifting or carrying items up to 20 lbs.
  • This position will be open until it is successfully filled.
