ABOUT ROCKET MONEY đź”®

Rocket Money’s mission is to meaningfully improve the financial prosperity of millions of people. Rocket Money offers members a unique understanding of their finances and a suite of valuable services that save them time and money – ultimately giving them a leg up on their financial journey.

ABOUT THE TEAM đź¤ť

The Design Systems team builds the foundations that help Rocket Money product teams create high-quality experiences quickly, consistently, and accessibly. We work across React Native and web to design, build, document, and evolve the shared components, tokens, patterns, and tooling that product engineers and designers rely on every day.

Our work sits at the intersection of product engineering, design, accessibility, and developer experience. We care deeply about making the right thing the easiest thing: accessible components by default, clear guidance when teams need to make tradeoffs, and implementation patterns that help teams ship polished experiences without reinventing the wheel.

As a Design System Engineer, you’ll help grow the system that powers Rocket Money’s product experience. You’ll partner closely with designers and engineers to improve shared UI primitives, contribute to motion and interaction patterns, strengthen accessibility across our component library, and make our system easier to adopt through documentation, examples, and thoughtful APIs.

IN THIS ROLE, YOU'LL:

  • Build accessible, reusable components. Contribute to our shared React Native and web component libraries with a focus on quality, usability, and accessibility from the start.
  • Help evolve our design system foundations. Work on components, tokens, patterns, documentation, and tooling that make it easier for product teams to build consistent user experiences.
  • Partner across design and engineering. Collaborate with designers, product engineers, and other stakeholders to understand needs, translate design intent into durable implementation, and help teams adopt system patterns successfully.
  • Strengthen accessibility practices. Build components and patterns that support inclusive experiences, identify accessibility gaps, and help raise the bar for how Rocket Money teams think about accessibility in everyday product work.
  • Contribute to motion and interaction quality. Bring curiosity and care to motion design, micro-interactions, transitions, and the small details that make product experiences feel intuitive and polished.
  • Improve documentation and examples. Create clear Storybook examples, usage guidance, migration notes, and technical documentation that help engineers use the design system confidently.
  • Support adoption at scale. Help product teams migrate to shared components and patterns, respond to feedback, and improve the system based on real usage across the codebase.
  • Keep the foundation healthy. Write thoughtful tests, maintain implementation quality, and participate in code reviews that make our shared UI infrastructure more reliable over time.

ABOUT YOU đꦄ

  • You have 3+ years of professional software engineering experience, ideally building user-facing product experiences with React, React Native, TypeScript, or similar technologies.
  • You have strong frontend fundamentals and care about building UI that is reliable, maintainable, and enjoyable for other engineers to use.
  • You have hands-on experience with accessibility or a demonstrated interest in making digital products more inclusive. You think about keyboard behavior, screen readers, focus management, semantic structure, color contrast, and usable interaction patterns.
  • You’re interested in design systems: component APIs, design tokens, documentation, adoption, consistency, and the balance between flexibility and standardization.
  • You enjoy collaborating closely with designers and engineers, and you can move comfortably between design intent, technical constraints, and pragmatic implementation.
  • You bring curiosity about motion design and interaction details. You don’t need to be a motion specialist, but you’re excited to help build thoughtful, accessible motion patterns that improve the product experience.
  • You communicate clearly in writing and in code. You can explain tradeoffs, document usage patterns, and help other engineers understand how and why to use shared components.
  • You’re comfortable working in ambiguity, asking good questions, and breaking larger improvements into safe, incremental steps.
  • You’re excited to grow in a mid-level role on a team that values craft, collaboration, accessibility, and high-leverage systems work.

NICE TO HAVE âś¨

  • Experience contributing to or maintaining a design system, component library, or shared frontend platform.
  • Experience with React Native, mobile accessibility, animation libraries, or cross-platform UI patterns.
  • Familiarity with Storybook, Figma, design tokens, visual regression testing, or frontend testing tools.
  • Experience supporting migrations or adoption of shared components across a large codebase.
