About Meet The People

Meet The People (MTP) is a network of specialized US media agencies united by a shared commitment to delivering exceptional results for our clients. Our Human Resources team supports every employee across the MTP (US) network, providing the foundation that allows our agencies to focus on what they do best. As we continue to grow — with more agencies on the horizon — we are building an HR team that is as dynamic, collaborative, and driven as the agencies we serve.

The Opportunity

We are looking for an enthusiastic, detail-oriented HR Generalist to join our team based in Columbia, MO. This is a great opportunity for someone early in their HR career who is eager to learn and excited about building a strong foundation across a broad range of HR functions. You will gain real experience in payroll processing, HR systems, and employee experience, and play a visible role in supporting employees across all eight MTP agencies every day. If you are curious, dependable, and ready to grow — we want to hear from you.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned)

  • Support semi-monthly payroll processing, including timesheet review and payroll audits to ensure accuracy across the MTP network.
  • Help maintain and update our HRIS platform, keeping employee records accurate and up to date.
  • Assist with the employee onboarding experience — from new hire system setup to first-day welcome — ensuring every employee feels set up for success.
  • Assist with the offboarding process, coordinating documentation and ensuring all steps are completed accurately and on time.
  • Be a go-to resource for employees across the network, answering HR questions or connecting them with the right person quickly and professionally.
  • Support 401(k) and workers' compensation audit preparation.
  • Help track compliance activities including required training completions and employee acknowledgements.
  • Pitch in on HR team projects and initiatives as our network continues to grow.

Qualifications - To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • 1–2 years of experience in HR, payroll, or administrative support — internships count.
  • Familiarity with payroll concepts or HRIS platforms is a plus, but not required.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy, especially when working with payroll and employee data.
  • Great organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple tasks without dropping the ball.
  • A genuine people-first mindset — you enjoy helping others and take pride in being reliable and responsive.
  • Clear, professional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Discretion and integrity when handling sensitive information.
  • Above all, a growth mindset — you are coachable, curious, and excited to build a career in HR.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field. Equivalent experience in payroll or HR administration will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Why MTP?

We invest in our people, celebrate curiosity, and believe that the best HR teams are built on trust, collaboration, and a genuine care for the employee experience. This role offers real growth potential for someone ready to learn and contribute.
