We are seeking a Sr. Machine Learning Engineer to help pioneer new applications of AI on large-scale, real-world clinical data.
While this is an engineering role, it is deeply research-oriented and exploratory. You will work at the frontier of machine learning and healthcare, developing novel approaches that go beyond established patterns, turning cutting-edge ideas into scalable, impactful solutions.
This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy both building systems and exploring new problem spaces, especially in domains where data, medicine, and AI intersect.
Who You Are
- Builder + Explorer: You enjoy creating robust systems while also venturing into uncharted problem spaces
- Curious: You ask not just “how do we solve this?” but “what should we be solving next?”
- Impact-driven: You care about applying AI to meaningful healthcare challenges
- Comfortable with ambiguity: You thrive in environments where problems are not fully defined
- Collaborative: You work effectively across technical and clinical domains
What You'll Do
- Build & Innovate: Design and implement advanced ML models and systems using large-scale EHR data
- Explore New Frontiers: Identify and develop novel use cases for AI in healthcare that have not yet been widely explored
- Work Across Modalities: Leverage structured and unstructured clinical data, and integrate emerging data types such as genomics, imaging, and clinical notes
- Translate Research into Practice: Prototype new ideas and evolve them into production-ready solutions
- Collaborate Broadly: Partner with clinicians, researchers, product teams, and external stakeholders (e.g., pharma, life sciences organizations)
- Deliver Impact: Build solutions that enable better decision-making for customers and ultimately improve patient outcomes
What We're Looking For
Basic Qualifications
-
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (or PhD) in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field
- Strong foundation in machine learning, deep learning, or applied statistics
- Experience building and deploying ML models in real-world settings
- Proficiency in Python and modern ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow)
Preferred Qualifications
-
- Experience working with healthcare or biomedical data (EHRs, clinical notes, genomics, imaging)
- Familiarity with modern ML approaches such as:
- Large language models / foundation models
- Multimodal learning
- Causal inference
- Time-series and longitudinal modeling
- Experience bridging research and engineering (e.g., taking ideas from papers to production)
- Publications or demonstrated innovation in applied ML (a plus, not required)
