We are seeking a Specialty Pharmacy Liaison to work within the pharmacy an clinics at Redeemer Health to improve care coordination and the patient experience. The Specialty Pharmacy Liaison is an advanced pharmacy technician role that works collaboratively with providers, clinic staff, and patients to facilitate access to specialty pharmacy medications and increase utilization of the health system specialty pharmacy. In this role, you will performs insurance benefit investigations and prior authorizations to secure access to prescribed therapies, coordinate financial assistance through manufacturers and third-party programs, and communicate directly with patients, prescribing physicians and clinic staff, and insurance companies to arrange timely approval and fulfillment of medications.

Here's what you'll be doing:

  • Collaborating directly with prescribers and clinic staff to identify patients utilizing or being prescribed specialty medications.
  • Educating patients about specialty pharmacy services and the benefits of using the health system specialty pharmacy with the goal of increasing prescription capture.
  • Performing benefits investigations to determine coverage and financial responsibility for specialty medications.
  • Supporting the prior authorization, denials, and appeals processes to obtain coverage approval.
  • Proactively identifying patients eligible for financial assistance through manufacturer-provided or third-party sponsored programs.
  • Facilitating patient enrollment in programs to reduce out-of-pocket expense.
  • Performing patient outreach to coordinate care, provide status updates, obtain additional information, and facilitate ongoing medication adherence.
  • Providing exceptional customer service to patients, provider office staff, and external business associates.

What you'll bring to the table:

  • At least a high school diploma or GED.
  • Licensed pharmacy technician in the State of Pennsylvania.
  • At least two years' pharmacy technician experience in retail, specialty, and/or insurance settings.
  • Ability to work both independently as well as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Critical thinking in identifying, assessing, and responding to insurance-related issues.
  • Ability to multi-task and organize workload for efficient use of time.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently under tight deadlines, high volumes, and multiple interruptions.
  • Strong communication skills, including active listening, speaking, and effective writing.

You'll stand out if you also have the following:

  • National pharmacy technician certification (CPhT or ExCPT)
  • Previous experience working within a physician office or clinic.
  • Experience with health system electronic health records (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Athena) and specialty pharmacy management platforms (e.g., Asembia-1, Therigy, Compass Rose).
