Position Overview
We’re hiring Strategic Project Leads (SPLs) to run large-scale AI data operations for leading frontier AI labs.
This is a high-ownership, execution-first role at the intersection of AI, operations, and people leadership. You will own end-to-end delivery of complex AI workflows (RLHF, SFT, evaluation, benchmarking), lead large distributed teams, and drive outcomes across quality, speed, and cost.
This role is designed for elite operators who thrive in ambiguity, move fast, and scale both systems and teams.
Primary Responsibilities
1. End-to-End Program Delivery
- Own execution of large-scale AI data programs (often multi-million dollar scope)
- Translate ambiguous research requirements into structured, scalable workflows
- Drive delivery across RLHF, SFT, RL, and evaluation pipelines
- Be accountable for outcomes: quality, speed, and cost
2. Operations & Systems Building
- Design and optimize end-to-end data pipelines
- Identify bottlenecks and drive improvements in throughput, quality, and efficiency
- Build scalable systems including:
- Workflow design
- QA/review layers
- Incentive structures
- Run continuous improvement loops: build → test → refine
3. Team Leadership at Scale
- Lead large, distributed teams (100s to 1000+ contributors)
- Build pod structures and operating rhythms
- Drive performance through clear goals, metrics, and feedback loops
- Hire, train, and mentor high-performing operators
- Act as a force multiplier for team productivity and output
4. Client & Stakeholder Ownership
- Serve as an interface for AI researchers and stakeholders
- Build strong, trust-based relationships
- Provide structured updates, insights, and recommendations
- Anticipate needs and proactively solve problems
5. Cross-Functional Execution
- Partner closely with R&D and technical teams
- Bridge the gap between research and operations
- Translate technical requirements into scalable execution plans
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience: 4–10 years in high-performance environments (MBB/Tier-1 consulting, high-growth startups, strategy & ops, program management, or AI data operations)
- Education (Preferred): Bachelors degree in CS & MBA from a top global program
- Operator Mindset: Strong first-principles thinking; ability to take ambiguous problems from 0→1 and scale beyond
- Execution Excellence: Proven track record of managing complex workflows with high quality, speed, and efficiency
- People Leadership: Experience managing teams/pods and driving accountability and performance
- Technical Fluency: Comfortable working with AI/ML workflows (LLMs, RLHF, evaluation pipelines), Python and prompt engineering skills
- Communication: Clear, structured communicator with strong stakeholder management skills
What This Role Is Not
- Not a pure software engineering role
- Not a strategy-only or slide-driven role
- Not passive program management
This is a builder-operator role with full ownership and intensity.
Key Expectations
- Operate in a fast-paced, high-ownership environment
- Deliver on time-sensitive, high-stakes programs
- Work across time zones when required
- Maintain an exceptionally high bar for quality
Comp range: 150 - 200k base
