About the job
The Customer Lifecycle group is central to Twilio's continued growth. We work closely with stakeholders and product teams to design and implement the infrastructure for all customer activities on our system. This includes everything from sign-up/sign-in, authentication & authorization processes to account management.
This position is needed to help the Email Identity engineering team build and maintain the email communications platform. On this team you will work on a critical platform that supports daily interactions from thousands of our customers worldwide. The ideal candidate for this role is a self-motivated individual, passionate about large-scale software design, development, deployment, and operation, with a growth mindset, eager to enhance Twilio's next-generation communications user experience.

Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll:
- Design, develop, test, and deploy Identity features, while refactoring and addressing technical debt.
- Participate actively in backlog refinement, Agile ceremonies, and collaborate with your team to meet sprint commitments.
- Manage work using GitHub, Jira, and our build/deploy systems.
- Take ownership of service reliability by responding to incidents, participating in the on-call rotation & post-incident reviews.
- Collaborate across all phases of projects to continuously improve our email platform.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues within your team’s domain, independently or as part of a team.
- Ensure clear and comprehensive documentation of the projects you work on.
- Continuously acquire new technical skills and knowledge to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic industry.

Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 0-1 years of software development experience, particularly with highly available applications.
- Proficiency in modern programming languages such as Ruby, Go (preferred), Python, Java, or C++.
- Interest in building and maintaining software optimized for production environments.
- Basic understanding of designing and building RESTful APIs.
- Familiarity with automated testing and CI/CD pipelines in contemporary development workflows.
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to collaboratively resolve complex production issues.
- Growth-oriented attitude with a passion for learning in a supportive, team-driven setting.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills with an emphasis on clarity and inclusivity.
Preferred
- Familiarity with databases such as SQL, NoSQL, AWS DynamoDB, or Aurora.
- Interest in microservices, high-performance APIs, and web security.
- Exposure to deploying cloud applications across multiple regions.
Location
This role will be remote, but is not eligible to be hired in CA, CT, NJ, NY, PA, WA.

The estimated pay ranges for this role are as follows:
- Based in Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Vermont or Washington D.C. : $120,000/annually
- Based in New York, New Jersey, Washington State, or California (outside of the San Francisco Bay area): $126,500/annually
- Based in the San Francisco Bay area, California: $141,000/annually
- This role may be eligible to participate in Twilio’s equity plan and corporate bonus plan. All roles are generally eligible for the following benefits: health care insurance, 401(k) retirement account, paid sick time, paid personal time off, paid parental leave.
The successful candidate’s starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location.

Travel
