About the job
Twilio is looking for a Social Impact Intern to join our Social and Environmental Impact (SEI) team. This is a unique role that gives you first-hand corporate social responsibility experience, and sits at the intersection of social impact, community engagement, and communications. As an intern, you won’t just be watching from the sidelines; you will be a key player in ensuring our social impact and community engagement initiatives drive both meaningful social change and business value.
What You’ll Gain:

- Cross-Functional Exposure: The chance to work alongside Sales, Marketing, Product, and Operations teams and meet employees with different workstreams around the globe.
- Mentorship: Direct reporting line to the Social and Environmental Impact team with a focus on your professional development.
Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll:
- Employee Impact Coordination & Operations (50%)
- Assist in organizing and executing virtual and in-person employee engagement and volunteer opportunities and activities Help plan for Twilio’s annual Global Impact Week event, assisting with the coordination of 50+ volunteer events globally.
- Draft communications for internal newsletters, intranet posts, and impact reports that highlight Twilio’s social impact initiatives and drive engagement.
- Community Engagement & Research (30%)
- Conduct literature reviews and background research on education, healthcare, and crisis readiness to inform our public sector engagement plans.
- Help identify high-impact opportunities and nonprofits where digital communications technologies can meaningfully advance community outcomes.
- Operations & Analysis (20%)
- Develop reports and presentations as needed. Identify ways to make our internal systems more organized, efficient, and our social impact programs more user-friendly.
- Monitor both the public sector tech landscape and the crisis readiness landscape to identify emerging trends and relevant conferences and learning opportunities for the team.

Required:
- Currently pursuing a four-year degree in Political Science, International Affairs, Non-Profit Management, Business Administration, or a related degree.
- Interest in corporate social responsibility/social impact
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Project/program management skills
- Critical-thinking, problem-solving, organization skills
- Entrepreneurial spirit, passion for innovation, and a commitment to driving change
- Strong desire to contribute to a collaborative team atmosphere, dive in where needed, and learn new skills to offer excellent service to our customers (i.e. employees, nonprofits, and businesses).
Location
This role will be remote, but is not eligible to be hired in CA, CT, NJ, NY, PA, WA.

Compensation
*Please note the salary range information provided applies only to candidates residing in California, Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Vermont, Washington D.C., and Washington State due to local requirements. Compensation for candidates in other locations will be discussed during the hiring process. Please note that hiring for this role is not restricted to the locations listed above.
The estimated pay ranges for this role are as follows:
- Based in Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Vermont or Washington D.C.: $29.00/hour
- Based in New York, New Jersey, Washington State, or California (outside of the San Francisco Bay area): $31.00/hour
- Based in the San Francisco Bay area, California: $35.00/hour
The successful candidate’s starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location.
