Join the team as Twilio’s next Staff Product Designer (Email Products) [2026-06].

About the job

At Twilio, we are shaping the future of communications, empowering millions of developers and hundreds of thousands of businesses globally to build personalized customer experiences. We are looking for a visionary, highly strategic Staff Product Designer (L4) to join our Channels UX team and serve as the overarching design leader for Twilio's Email Products. Following our recent announcements at SIGNAL, Twilio is expanding its communication footprint with the General Availability of Twilio Email inside the reimagined Twilio One Console. Built on our industry-leading, high-deliverability engine, this new capability is explicitly designed for product teams and developers who want to embed email directly into broader, cross-channel communication workflows alongside Messaging and Voice. In this role, you will define the strategic user experience vision for this rapidly expanding product line, while also steering the long-term design architecture for our foundational SendGrid email platform. Reporting into the Channels UX leadership layer, you will partner closely with Product Directors and Engineering VPs across our email organization to establish core platform patterns, architect unified cross-channel workflows, and champion user-centered platform thinking across traditional organizational silos. This is a phenomenal opportunity to act as a principal design stakeholder, shaping a high-growth product area from its foundational stages while leveraging the scale of a world-class communication platform.

Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll:

  • Architect the Twilio Email Vision: Own the holistic, end-to-end user journey strategy for Twilio Email inside the core One Console. Define the foundational mental models and interaction standards for complex API configurations, domain authentication, and transactional setups.
  • Lead Cross-Channel Harmonization: Act as the strategic connective tissue between individual channel silos. Partner with design, product, and engineering leaders across Messaging and Voice to build unified, channel-agnostic configuration and observability narratives that redefine multi-channel builder experiences.
  • Steer the Modernization of SendGrid: Define the long-term UX roadmap and structural evolution for our high-revenue, standalone SendGrid platform—ensuring it continues to scale seamlessly and remains the enterprise gold standard for deliverability and marketing workflows.
  • Establish High-Level Strategic Partnerships: Cultivate influential, peer-to-peer relationships with Product Directors and Engineering VPs across our email teams. Elevate the UX organization to a strategic partner capable of driving product direction and balancing deep technical infrastructure primitives with elegant user outcomes.
  • Define Observability & Platform Telemetry Standards: Architect the design framework for high-density data visualizations, centralized delivery event logs, and real-time diagnostic dashboards that help developers effortlessly track complex deliverability metrics and performance.
  • Scale Design Systems & Mentorship: Drive the evolution of Twilio’s centralized design system by pioneering complex, reusable email primitives. Act as a mentor and multiplier for L3 designers and cross-functional teams across the Channels UX organization, elevating the overall craft and design rigor.
  • De-risk Organizational Ambiguity: Navigate extreme technical and structural ambiguity, transforming vague corporate initiatives and fragmented customer journeys into a clear, unified 2027 strategic product roadmap.

Qualifications

Twilio values diverse experiences from all kinds of industries, and we encourage everyone who meets the required qualifications to apply. If your career is just starting or hasn't followed a traditional path, don't let that stop you from considering Twilio. We are always looking for people who will bring something new to the table!

*Required:

Work schedule: Full-time, US-based, remote

  • 8+ years of professional product design experience architecting and shipping complex, data-heavy B2B SaaS platforms, developer tools, infrastructure products, or enterprise communication platforms.
  • Expert-Level Systems Thinking: A world-class portfolio demonstrating deep structural design, cross-product workflow mapping, highly complex data architectures, and an ability to unify fragmented platform experiences.
  • Executive Cross-Functional Leadership: Proven track record of influencing product strategy at the Director and VP level, balancing highly technical backend trade-offs, and directly shaping multi-year product roadmaps.
  • Mastery of Technical Complexity: Experience taking abstract, technical infrastructure primitives (e.g., complex APIs, SDK integrations, distributed data layers) and translating them into seamless, developer-friendly mental models.
  • Team Multiplier: Experience mentoring other designers, building design frameworks, and driving structural change within a scaling UX organization.
  • AI-Powered UX Mindset: We’re building a UX team that's thoughtful about how AI is changing the way products are built, as well as how our work gets done. We expect UXers to be curious about AI-powered tools and workflows, and to use emerging technologies thoughtfully to improve speed, quality, and impact. We’re looking for people who can help us evolve our practice as these tools and expectations continue to change.

Desired:

  • Designed for Developers: Extensive practical experience designing interfaces for technical builders (APIs, CLIs, SDKs, or developer management consoles).
  • Advanced Data Visualization Fluency: Deep expertise in designing intricate monitoring systems, log viewers, anomaly detection interfaces, or high-density analytical reporting dashboards.
  • Email Industry Expertise: Deep familiarity with email delivery infrastructure, domain management (DNS, SPF, DKIM), transactional communication protocols, or experience directing design for platforms like SendGrid.

Race & Ethnicity Definitions

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

A "recently separated veteran" means any veteran during the three-year period beginning on the date of such veteran's discharge or release from active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval, or air service.

An "active duty wartime or campaign badge veteran" means a veteran who served on active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service during a war, or in a campaign or expedition for which a campaign badge has been authorized under the laws administered by the Department of Defense.

An "Armed forces service medal veteran" means a veteran who, while serving on active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service, participated in a United States military operation for which an Armed Forces service medal was awarded pursuant to Executive Order 12985.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305, OMB Control Number 1250-0005, Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
