The US base salary range for this full-time position is $145,000-$165,000 based on location and level of experience plus discretionary bonus

Role and Responsibilities Overview
The Regional Director, Multifamily is responsible for the overall operational, financial, and regulatory performance of an assigned portfolio of multifamily communities. This role serves as the primary client and ownership liaison and provides strategic leadership to Property Managers, Regional Property Managers, and on-site teams.
The Regional Director partners closely with the Managing Director/Senior Managing Director and Asset Management to ensure assets are operated in alignment with approved business plans, regulatory requirements, and ownership objectives—while maintaining a strong on-the-ground presence across properties.
This role is ideal for a seasoned multifamily leader with deep experience in affordable or mixed-income housing who can balance strategy with execution and lead teams through complexity.
Client Relationship & Asset Performance Leadership
- Serve as the primary client liaison, ensuring alignment with ownership goals, performance targets, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct client-facing weekly property and portfolio performance reviews covering operations, leasing, renewals, AR/AP, facilities, compliance, and capital initiatives.
- Deliver client-facing monthly financial reviews, including budget performance, reforecasts, and variance analysis against approved business plans.
- Proactively communicate critical issues impacting asset condition, compliance, financial performance, or resident experience.
- Provide strategic insights and actionable recommendations to optimize asset performance and long-term value
Financial Oversight & Business Planning
- Lead the preparation, review, and presentation of annual budgets, reforecasts, business plans, and monthly financial reports in collaboration with Asset Managers and site teams.
- Integrate operational insights with financial planning to enhance forecasting accuracy and decision-making.
- Monitor budget conformance while identifying opportunities to drive revenue growth, NOI improvement, and expense efficiency.
Operational Excellence & Site Oversight
- Assume overall responsibility for day-to-day operational performance of the assigned portfolio.
- Conduct regular on-site property visits to evaluate physical condition, curb appeal, operational execution, staffing effectiveness, and resident experience.
- Confirm corrective actions from inspections, audits, or operational reviews are completed within established timeframes.
Affordable Housing Compliance & Regulatory Oversight
- Ensure full compliance with affordable housing regulatory requirements, including LIHTC, HUD, Section 8, and applicable state and local subsidy programs.
• Ensure adherence to Fair Housing, Equal Opportunity, and affirmative marketing requirements across all assigned properties.
• Partner with Compliance, Legal, Asset Management, and site teams to address regulatory findings, agency notices, and corrective action plans.
• Monitor compliance deadlines and ensure timely, accurate submission of all required reports to housing agencies and stakeholders.
• Proactively identify regulatory risks that could impact funding, credits, subsidies, or asset performance and escalate material concerns appropriately.
People Leadership & Team Development
- Provide leadership, coaching, and oversight to Property Managers, Regional Property Managers, and on-site teams.
- Hire, train, develop, and retain high-performing personnel and third-party contractors.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations, ensuring accountability, engagement, and professional growth.
Qualifications
- Proven experience leading multifamily portfolios, preferably affordable or mixed-income housing
- Strong working knowledge of LIHTC, HUD, Section 8, and Fair Housing requirements
- Financial acumen across budgets, forecasts, and NOI drivers
- Experience managing teams, vendors, and client relationships
- Strong judgment, communication, and leadership presence
