Two Six Technologies is seeking an Associate Research Director - Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning
Two Six Technologies is seeking an AI/ML Associate Research Director to grow our sponsored research portfolio with DARPA and other DOD / IC research organizations and work with technical leaders to set the strategic direction for our AI/ML project portfolio in support of National Security objectives. Key research areas include adversarial ML, computer vision and imagery / video analytics, novel approaches to measurement and evaluation, autonomous systems, AI-oriented cybersecurity, and large multimodal model forensics and fine-tuning. Specialization in one or more of these areas is recommended. This position emphasizes both collaboration and expertise, as an Associate Research Director will design and develop novel concepts in collaboration with the government and then lead teams to execute and evaluate them.
What you will do:
- Working with technical leaders to set strategic direction for AI/ML R&D project portfolio
- Cultivating relationships with DARPA Program Managers and other customers
- Identifying new R&D opportunities and overseeing capture
- Cultivating our AI/ML/Data Science talent team in collaboration with other team leaders, identifying/hiring new team members and line management of key contributors
- Technical marketing of Two Six Technologies’ AI/ML/Data Science services and capabilities to new and existing Government clients
Required Experience and Skills:
- A four-year degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, or related technical domain
- Ten or more years of professional experience in R&D Leadership
- Past performance as a Principal Investigator on fast-paced, innovation-driven, advanced technology R&D projects for Government clients, especially DARPA
- Proven track record of capturing Government R&D contracts/programs
- DoD and/or IC domain experience and knowledge
Nice to have Skills:
- An advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in Mathematics, Computer Science, or related technical domain
- Academic and/or industry publications in relevant fields
- Experience as a Principal Investigator for a DARPA program
- Experience collaborating across teams of specialists to produce innovative new scientific or technological capabilities
- Experience with the full research lifecycle (proposal to publication/transition) and software development lifecycle (from concept to prototype and production)
- Experience developing AI/ML solutions and products as well as software development & deployment
- Proven experience leading rapidly growing teams
Clearance:
- Active TS clearance with SCI eligibility

The projected salary range listed for this position is annualized. This is a general guideline and not a guarantee of salary. Salary is one component of our total compensation package and the specific salary offered is determined by various factors, including, but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills, geographic location, as well as contract specific affordability and organizational requirements.
Salary Range
$174,200 - $261,300 USD
