Overview of Opportunity
Two Six Technologies is looking for a Technical Product Engineering Lead to join our team in Arlington, Virginia. This person will serve as the technical team lead for one of our hardware security products. They will own the end-to-end technical vision and design decisions that span hardware, FPGA, embedded firmware, and software. In addition to setting technical direction, you will be a hands-on team member working alongside other passionate, motivated engineers across hardware, FPGA, and software disciplines. You will help transition prototypes into field-ready solutions in service of important national security missions.
This position is based out of our Arlington, VA office with intermittent opportunities for remote and hybrid work, as mission requirements allow. Some travel (10-15%) might be required to interface with customers and perform field testing.
Responsibilities Include:
- Technical Authority: Serve as the technical expert and decision-maker by owning the system architecture. Oversee the technical roadmap and lead the engineering team across hardware, FPGA, embedded firmware, and software boundaries, ensuring a cohesive and secure system design.
- Technical Roadmap & Schedule Management: Oversee planning, execution, task prioritization, and scheduling to ensure timely delivery of technical tasks, managing prioritization and resource balance.
- Management, Mentorship & Guidance: Offer technical guidance and mentorship to team members, fostering a collaborative culture of excellence and continuous learning. Manage a set of engineering team members, providing them support, advice, feedback, and career pathing.
- R&D Maturation: Transition proof-of-concept technologies into operational solutions ready for field deployment.
- Testing Strategy: Develop and implement unit, integration, and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing to ensure product reliability, safety, and resilience.
- Scalable Engineering & Modular Design: Apply scalable, modular open-systems design methodologies to reduce maintenance overhead as the product suite grows.
- Stakeholder & Partner Engagement: Conduct technical exchanges with transition partners and other stakeholders to align the product roadmap with mission requirements.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience serving as a technical lead, architect, or similar role leading engineering work across one or more disciplines (e.g., hardware, FPGA, and software)
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer/Electrical Engineering, or related technical domain
- Minimum of 7 years of experience with two or more of the following modern programming languages: Python, C , C++, Embedded C, Rust, Go
- Strong experience with Embedded Linux, including Yocto-based build systems
- Experience working alongside or leading FPGA and hardware teams
- Experience with testing, CI/CD pipelines, and virtual machine test ranges
- Experience with networking equipment, including network interface cards (NICs) and switches, as well as interfaces such as PCIe and Ethernet.
- Strong leadership and project management skills, with the ability to mentor junior engineers and drive technical execution.
- Ability to work on-site when required in Arlington, VA
Nice to haves:
- Experience shipping and iterating on production software in customers' hands
- Graduate degree in Computer Science, Computer/Electrical Engineering, or related Scientific Domain
- Familiarity with validation and/or certification frameworks such as NIAP, CSfC, or others
- Experience directly managing, mentoring, and advancing teams of engineers
Security Clearance:
- Active Top Secret Clearance is required, with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI

The projected salary range listed for this position is annualized. This is a general guideline and not a guarantee of salary. Salary is one component of our total compensation package and the specific salary offered is determined by various factors, including, but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills, geographic location, as well as contract specific affordability and organizational requirements.
Salary Range
$189,353 - $245,000 USD
