Job Summary
The Accounts Payable Manager is responsible for overseeing the company's accounts payable function, ensuring timely and accurate payment of invoices and expense reports while maintaining strong vendor relationships. This role involves managing the accounts payable team, ensuring compliance with internal controls and regulations, and driving process improvements to enhance efficiency and automation related to AP.

 

General Responsibilities
• Enter or review invoices for payment, ensuring input accuracy, appropriate general ledger coding, and adherence to company policies.
• Oversee the scheduling and execution of payments to vendors and suppliers, including electronic transfers, checks, and ACH payments.
• Supervise and mentor the accounts payable team, including training, performance evaluations, and career development.
• Allocate tasks and manage workload to ensure timely processing of invoices and payments.
• Establish and maintain effective relationships with vendors and suppliers.
• Address and resolve any issues or discrepancies related to payments and invoices.
• Conduct regular reconciliations of accounts payable ledgers to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Prepare month end accruals related to accounts payable.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Assist with the implementation and monitoring of internal controls to prevent fraud and errors.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in the accounts payable function.
• Assist with the implementation of best practices and automation solutions where applicable to assist with standardization across business lines.
• Maintain accurate and organized records of all accounts payable transactions.
• Ensure proper documentation for audit and compliance purposes.

Job Qualifications
• Education – bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or accounting or related work experience
• Minimum 3 years in a supervisory/managerial AP role
• Manage a team of at least 3 employees with prior work experience
• Proficient in MS Office (Excel/Word/PowerPoint) and knowledgeable about Sage Intacct
• Proven knowledge of accounting principles and internal controls pertaining to AP and payment processing
• Strong interpersonal skills, highly organized, accurate, thorough, high level of attention to detail; ability to collaborate and communicate effectively.
• Hands on, self-starting, disciplined, and detail-oriented individual with ability to work in a high-volume environment that requires a work product that is highly accurate and timely.
• High degree of integrity includes the ability to successfully deal with sensitive or confidential information.
• Ability to exhibit poise, composure and professionalism when confronting stressful or high-pressure situations both internally and externally.
