We are currently seeking a Staff Accountant to join our high-growth and fast-paced veterinary company. This position’s core responsibilities will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting, reporting, month-end close processes such as posting journal entries, performing account reconciliations, and working collaboratively with hospitals and other departments as needed.
Job Responsibilities:
- Supports month-end, quarterly and annual close processes, including preparation of journal entries and reconciliation of accounts for our practices and support of corporate level accounting entries, reconciliations or processes as needed
- Work closely with hospital practice managers regarding sales data, monthly reporting and ad hoc questions that arise
- Perform and manage balance sheet account reconciliations and other recurring close related practices as needed, including overseeing daily, weekly or monthly responsibilities
- Collaborate with other departments in creating reports, new processes, improvements for reporting
- Review and maintain accrual schedules for month end
- Review corporate credit card expenses and employee reimbursements
- Assists with annual financial audit, regulatory examinations and any other ad hoc audits or reviews
- Assist with back-office integration of new practice locations
Requirements:
- Undergraduate degree, preference in accounting, finance or equivalent work experience (0 to 3 years of experience)
- Basic understanding of the general accounting process, with experience in a multi-location environment being a plus
- Willingness to learn and to actively ask questions
- Experience in independent problem solving and data validation
- Sharp attention to detail, high degree of accuracy and ability to operate under deadlines
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task, adapt to and operate in a fast-paced, changing environment with proficiency
- Ability to adapt to emerging technologies and processing data in multiple systems/platforms
- Prompt and professional verbal and written communication skills with a customer service attitude and being able to communicate effectively with doctors, practice managers, and employees at all levels of the organization
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Accounting Systems (Sage Intacct or comparable)
- Knowledge of GAAP
- Local to Chicago
Compensation:
Highly competitive compensation consisting of base salary and performance bonus
