Associate Attorney (Remote)

Philadelphia, PA

Associate Attorney | Insurance Defense | Pennsylvania | Remote

Ready to Do More Than Just Work on Someone Else’s Cases?

Tyson & Mendes is seeking an Associate Attorney with 1+ years of insurance defense experience to join our growing Philadelphia team.

This is a remote opportunity for an attorney who already understands the fundamentals of insurance defense and is ready for more: more case ownership, more substantive litigation experience, more client interaction, and more opportunity to develop as a litigator.

Get Real Litigation Experience, Early!

On Chris Kelly’s teams, we keep case staffing lean, typically with only two attorneys assigned to a file. That means associates aren't sitting on the sidelines.

You'll have the opportunity to handle files, develop strategy, manage discovery, take depositions, work with experts, communicate with clients and carriers, handle motion practice, and prepare matters for trial.

The goal is simple: give you meaningful litigation experience sooner rather than later.

Build a Broad Litigation Practice

Our Philadelphia office handles sophisticated civil defense matters in both state and federal courts, giving attorneys exposure to a wide range of litigation. Pasted text

Chris's teams currently handle a broad mix of:

  • General liability
  • Premises liability
  • Medical malpractice
  • Professional liability
  • Construction defect
  • Product liability
  • Auto and commercial transportation matters

It's an opportunity to build a strong litigation foundation without being confined to one narrow practice area. Pasted text

Experienced Leadership Without the Micromanagement

Philadelphia Co-Managing Partner Christopher Kelly brings decades of experience across general liability, professional and product liability, construction, trucking, employment, commercial litigation, insurance coverage and other complex defense matters. Pasted text

His leadership style is relaxed and easygoing, with an expectation that attorneys take responsibility for their work, communicate, and keep their cases moving. Pasted text

You'll have experienced attorneys around you when you need them—without someone looking over your shoulder every step of the way.

Remote Doesn't Mean Disconnected

This position is remote, with no regular in-office requirement for Chris's group. Pasted text

The Philadelphia office is a collegial group that pitches in and helps one another. The atmosphere is friendly and laid back, while the approach to the work is anything but.

Nice people. Serious litigators. No egos required.

What We're Looking For

  • 1+ years of recent insurance defense experience
  • Active Pennsylvania Bar license required
  • Pennsylvania and New Jersey dual admission strongly preferred
  • Prior billing experience
  • Ability to independently handle and move files forward
  • Strong written, analytical and communication skills
  • Responsive, curious and committed to doing great work

Build Your Career From Wherever You Work Best.

If you're early in your insurance defense career and ready for real responsibility, broad litigation experience, experienced leadership, flexibility, and a team that will give you room to grow, we'd like to meet you.

Work remotely. Own your cases. Become a stronger litigator.
