We are currently seeking an experienced Trauma Registrar to join our team. In this role, you will abstract medical data for statistical purposes and research, perform coding for trauma patients, and update/maintain the trauma registry.  

Responsibilities include:

  • Analyze and abstract medical information from the records of trauma patients.
  • Codes all trauma related diagnoses (ICD-10), treatment procedures and mechanisms of injury.
  • Enter trauma registry data into the computerized database and assist in maintaining and updating the daily trauma patient census.
  • Identify and correct errors and inconsistencies in patient data including registration information, financial coding, trauma activation levels and other trauma based billable categories.
  • Perform data accuracy reviews, performance improvement audits and other reports as required.
  • Serves as a clinical resource to house staff, nurses and other healthcare providers.

Qualifications include:

  • CSTR certification required
  • RHIA/RHIT/CCS certification preferred but not required
  • A minimum of two years’ trauma registrar experience in an acute care setting.
  • Technical competency with remote-based connectivity including virtual private networks, multi-factor authentication via smartphone, and video conferencing platforms.
  • Proficiency with office software including Outlook email for communication, calendar for meeting attendance, and Excel spreadsheets for data management. 
  • A committed regular schedule is required with expectations for reliable and punctual attendance.
