Purchase Specialist III
About the Role
The Purchasing Specialist III is a key customer service position that is able to effectively manage and oversee the procurement of materials and services across multiple business units and locations within Uber Freight, ensuring timely purchasing, cost efficiency, and alignment with operational needs while coordinating with cross-functional teams and vendors.
What the Candidate Will Do
- Monitor, process, and provide consistent follow-up on internal purchase requests to ensure timely fulfillment of business needs.
- Actively identify, vet, and develop new vendor relationships to expand the supply chain and ensure procurement diversity.
- Conduct comprehensive market research and price evaluations to stay ahead of industry trends and pricing fluctuations.
- Solicit formal quotes and perform detailed "apples-to-apples" comparative analyses to identify the best value regarding cost, quality, and lead times.
- Execute the creation, issuance, and meticulous tracking of Purchase Orders, ensuring accurate documentation from initiation to delivery.
- Coordinate with vendors to monitor delivery schedules, resolving any delays or discrepancies to maintain operational continuity.
- Manage and process supplier payment requests, ensuring all financial transactions align with contractual terms and internal compliance.
- Oversee the administration and analysis of departmental expenditures to identify patterns and ensure budget adherence.
- Actively participate in cost-reduction projects by negotiating better terms and identifying process efficiencies.
- Maintain accurate procurement records and generate regular reports on purchasing KPIs, spend analysis, and vendor performance.
Basic Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Minimum 3 years of related experience
- Fluent in English and Spanish, with excellent communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft or Google Tools and of TMSF and root cause of TMSF issues.
- Knowledge of BI reporting and of the Oracle or Comparable ERP System, specifically Accounts Payable module(s), Uber Freight TMS, Shipment Planning, Shipment Entry, Shipment Execution, and TMS Lite.
