About Ubiquiti

At Ubiquiti Inc., we create technology platforms for Businesses, Smart Homes, and Internet Service Providers, driven by our goal to connect everyone, everywhere. To date, Ubiquiti has shipped over 100 million devices worldwide, from ISP networking products to next generation of IT solutions. Our growth is made possible by the dedicated team of hundreds behind the scenes. From software developers and product managers to designers and strategists, Team UI is driven to achieve our common goal: Rethinking IT. At Ubiquiti, you’ll heighten your potential and broaden your horizons - all while shaping the future of connectivity.

Role Summary

As part of the PDSA Optical team, you will support product development through non-imaging optical engineering, focusing on light guide design. You will work with cross-functional teams from early concept to implementation.

You will provide early recommendations on LED selection and illumination architecture, define optical requirements, and perform simulations to evaluate uniformity and optical efficiency. You will validate designs through measurement and ensure good correlation between simulation and actual performance.

You will help resolve illumination issues during build cycles, support optical component management, and contribute to reducing design risks, improving accuracy, and accelerating project progress.

Responsibilities (What he/she will do after joining UI)

  • Provide early-stage recommendations on optical architecture and LED selection.
  • Perform optical simulations and 3D optimization based on product PRD requirements.
  • Analyze optical measurement results to evaluate and predict product illumination performance (e.g., uniformity and efficiency).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize light guide components and LED brightness tuning.

Requirement (Must-Haves)

  • Master’s degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • At least 3+ years of experience in optical design and validation.
  • Solid understanding of geometrical optics and/or non-imaging optics.
  • Experience with optical simulation tools such as Lighttools (preferred), TracePro, or similar.
  • Basic 3D modeling skills with tools such as SolidWorks (preferred), Pro/E, or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and interpret LED datasheets, including key optical and electrical specifications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Lighttools or advanced ray-tracing methods
  • Experience in non-imaging optical system optimization
  • Familiarity with tolerance analysis or DOE.
  • Strong experience with AI tool is a plus.
