About this role
The Instructor Portfolio is a collection of teams focused on driving instructor success by providing marketplace insights, supporting content creation, analyzing learner performance, and guiding instructor-learner interactions at scale. In this role, you will work with product managers, designers, engineers, and other data scientists to build and refine the on-platform tools used by Udemy instructors to manage learning content. Success in this role requires a combination of strong communication and collaboration skills, sharp product sense, a customer-centric mindset, and solid technical skills.
What you'll be doing
- Influence prioritization and key business decisions through data-driven insights
- Serve as a subject matter expert and influence the data science roadmap within the Instructor Portfolio
- Define metrics and build operational dashboards to track business and product health
- Design and analyze randomized controlled experiments
- Design and execute non-experimental causal analyses
- Develop robust data pipelines and continuously improve the quality and accessibility of data
- Build Udemy’s technical brand through talks, blog posts, and publications
- Independently own and drive key team projects
What you’ll have
- 4+ years of relevant hands-on experience in product or business analytics roles
- Demonstrated track record delivering on impactful, independent projects in prior roles
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Exceptional data storytelling and data visualization ability
- Broad knowledge of applied statistics and experimental design
- Expert SQL ability and proficiency with 1+ programming languages (e.g., R or Python)
- Experience building automated big data pipelines using tools like Spark, Airflow, and dbt.
- Ability and willingness to work autonomously, relentlessly prioritize, and collaborate with team members across time zones
