Opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead the architecture and implementation of our conversational AI platform. In this high-impact role, you will do more than just build features; you will own the ecosystem that allows our conversational AI capabilities to scale securely and reliably.

You will act as a technical lead across the full stack - architecting backend integrations in Ruby on Rails, developing core AI services in Python, and managing the underlying cloud infrastructure via Terraform. This is a role for an engineer who understands that production-grade AI requires not just great models, but rock-solid infrastructure, efficient data pipelines, and seamless application integration.

Responsibilities

  • Architectural Leadership: Design and oversee the implementation of scalable, fault-tolerant systems that bridge our core Ruby on Rails/JavaScript application with cloud-native conversational services.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Own the deployment and management of our AI infrastructure. You will write and maintain Terraform modules to provision cloud resources (GCP), ensuring our environment is reproducible, secure, and cost-effective.
  • Backend Engineering & Integration: Build high-performance APIs and background workers in Ruby on Rails to handle asynchronous tasks, ensuring zero latency impact on the customer experience.
  • AI Ops & Data Pipelines: Architect robust RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) pipelines. You will optimize data ingestion strategies and manage vector database infrastructure to ensure our models have access to real-time, accurate context.
  • Reliability & Observability: Define and implement monitoring, logging, and alerting strategies for both the application and infrastructure layers to meet strict enterprise SLAs.
  • Mentorship: Champion engineering best practices, conduct code reviews, and mentor junior engineers on the nuances of building distributed systems involving NLP and LLMs.

 Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a focus on backend systems and infrastructure.
  • Polyglot Expertise: Deep proficiency in Ruby on Rails for application logic and Python for AI/Data workflows. Experience with JavaScript/TypeScript for full-stack integration.
  • Infrastructure Mastery: Demonstrated production experience with Terraform (IaC) and container orchestration (Docker/Kubernetes). You should be comfortable managing cloud resources (GCP preferred, AWS, Azure).
  • Databases: Strong knowledge of SQL (PostgreSQL) and preferred experience with Vector Databases (Pinecone, Milvus, or pgvector).

Annual US Hiring Range: $120,000 - $150,000

*A candidate’s actual placement within this range will depend on geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level.

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

A "recently separated veteran" means any veteran during the three-year period beginning on the date of such veteran's discharge or release from active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval, or air service.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
