We’re looking for a highly motivated Sub-Assembly Technician II to join our fast-paced, innovative team at Ultima Genomics. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled electro-mechanical technician who’s passionate about building impactful technology and contributing to meaningful change in the world.
This opportunity is a full-time contracting position with a Monday-Friday schedule.
How You’ll Contribute
- Assemble, install, and test complex mechanical assemblies, fixtures, and equipment using hand and power tools
- Execute automation testing and complete required documentation such as deviations, Device History Records (DHRs), material transfers
- Diagnose and troubleshoot issues across subsystems—including mechanical, electrical, software, and instrumentation components
- Document assembly and testing issues by creating and managing Jira tickets
- Use internal software tools to collect, record, and manage build and test data for device history and system bring-up
- Collaborate with engineering teams to identify and drive design or process improvements
- Draft and review work instructions for system integration and automation workflows
- Manage system configurations and participate in Engineering Change Order (ECO) processes
- Support quality and manufacturing engineering teams on production issues and new product introduction (NPI) initiatives
- Other job duties as assigned
Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
- BS degree in engineering, physics, or a related field preferred, or 1-2 years of relevant hands-on experience in manufacturing or assembly
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics (via PDM viewers, PDFs, etc.)
- Skilled in using hand tools and diagnostic instruments, including calipers, torque drivers, wire crimpers, multimeters, and more
- Manual dexterity and fine motor skills for precision assembly
- Familiarity with 5S methodology and a strong safety mindset preferred
- Familiarity with Jira (issue tracking), ERP and PLM systems, such as NetSuite or Arena and Basic Microsoft Office or Google Workspace tools for documentation and reporting is a plus
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and documentation skills
- Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic manufacturing environment
- Comfortable collaborating across multidisciplinary teams (engineering, manufacturing, chemistry, etc.)
- Proactive, dependable, and committed to high-quality work with a positive attitude, curiosity, and eagerness to learn and contribute to a collaborative team environment
- May be exposed to constant activity that requires standing or sitting for extended periods, pulling, lifting/moving/carrying up to 30 lbs and performing tasks requiring fine motor skills and close visual focus
