About the Role
As Strategic Procurement & Planning Manager, you will lead the daily procurement, production planning, and material management activities that keep Ultimaker’s supply chain running efficiently. You will ensure that suppliers deliver the right materials, at the right time, at the right cost—while supporting production readiness and maintaining optimal inventory levels.
This role is ideal for someone with strong operational leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, who enjoys making improvements, guiding a team, and solving supply challenges.
🔧 What You’ll Do
Procurement & Supplier Management
- Manage supplier relationships, from sourcing to negotiation and performance tracking.
- Oversee purchasing activities to support production and product development.
- Monitor supplier delivery, cost, and quality, and resolve issues when they arise.
- Maintain contracts, pricing agreements, and supplier records.
Planning & Inventory Control
- Lead the planning and execution of production schedules.
- Oversee demand forecasting, MRP, and materials availability for smooth operations.
- Align procurement, production, and inventory plans with internal stakeholders.
- Monitor KPIs including delivery performance, inventory turnover, and order accuracy.
Team Leadership
- Manage and coach a small team responsible for procurement and planning.
- Drive team goals, performance, and development through regular feedback and planning.
- Support the team in managing their daily responsibilities and cross-functional collaboration.
Operational Improvements
- Continuously improve procurement and planning processes to increase efficiency.
- Work with the Digital/IT teams to enhance ERP and planning system use (D365).
- Promote sustainable and responsible sourcing practices.
👤 What You Bring
- A bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering or similar (Master’s a plus).
- 8+ years of experience in procurement or planning in a manufacturing setting.
- 3+ years of leadership experience in procurement or supply chain roles.
- Experience with ERP systems (MS Dynamics 365 preferred).
- Strong planning, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Practical knowledge of inventory control, forecasting, and material planning.
- Fluent in English; Dutch is a plus.
