Position Summary:

The Buyer role will be an integral member of the Ultragenyx Global Procurement team. This individual will manage procurement activity regarding the review and conversion of requisitions to purchase orders for all Ultragenyx departments. A successful candidate must have strong analytical capabilities, detail-oriented, be a self-starter, have procurement experience within the pharmaceutical/life sciences industry, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally to resolve procure-to-pay issues. The candidate will be a creative problem solver who is passionate about delivering outstanding customer service to all customers, internal or external.

Work Model:

Flex: This role will typically require onsite work 2-3 days each week, or more depending on business needs. In many locations, the business will set certain days each week that Flex employees are required to be onsite.

Remote: Officially documented as working full-time from home, with travel to Ultragenyx's Novato office or other locations on occasion as needed.

Responsibilities:

Review purchase requisitions and convert them to purchase orders ensuring data accuracy
Perform data analysis on supplier spend and recommend cost saving proposals
Assist with employee Procurement process training
Assess quotes from multiple vendors for best quality, cost, and availability
Collaborate with suppliers to negotiate competitive terms, optimal pricing, and timely delivery schedules
Collaborate with Accounts Payable and internal customers to resolve procure-to-pay issues
Maintain and promote strong relationships with internal customers
Proactively seek to improve processes and tools to enhance productivity and lower costs
Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement
Support ongoing vendor relations

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in business or equivalent experience required
3-5 years of procurement related experience (Pharmaceutical/Life Sciences industry a plus)
Strong Interpersonal skills – Positive attitude with a collaborative and proactive approach to problem-solving
Attention to detail – Exceptional organization skills with a focus on accuracy and thoroughness in all tasks
Customer service excellence – Dedicated to providing outstanding support and fostering strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Demonstrated excellent analytical and problem-solving skills are a must
Experience working with Oracle R12 and iProcurement
Ability to quickly adapt to and learn additional procurement software as needed
Intermediate Excel Skills – Pivot tables, Vlookup, etc.
Solid understanding of basic accounting, internal controls, and SOX principles
Ability to build strong relationships at all levels
Direct but civil temperament and presence that inspires confidence in others
Strong negotiation, communication, organization, and analytical skills
Experience in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment a plus
Location: Candidate must be located within a 50-mile radius of our Novato or Brisbane offices, with the flexibility to train and/or work onsite as required #LI-CS1 #LI-Remote

The typical annual salary range for this full-time position is listed below. This range reflects the characteristics of the job, such as required skills and qualifications and is based on the office location noted in this job posting. The range may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.

This position is eligible for annual bonus and equity incentives. Actual individual pay is determined by demonstrated experience and internal equity alignment.

Pay Range

$85,000 - $105,000 USD
