
Strategic Market Access Manager

The Strategic Market Access Manager will be responsible for leading and executing the private market access strategy for gene therapies and other highly innovative technologies, ensuring sustainable patient access to high-cost and high-complexity treatments. The role combines strategic action (development of access models, pricing, value proposition, and partnerships) with a strong presence in the field, interacting directly with private health companies, hospitals, clinics, and key stakeholders in the private healthcare ecosystem. This position requires interaction with MKT, UCLs, MSL, PSP, Business Operations, Medical Team, and Regulatory if in the case.
Work Model:
Field: Officially documented as working as a member of the Ultragenyx field team, generally interacting with third parties on behalf of Ultragenyx.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a private market access strategy for gene therapies and other highly innovative technologies, aligned with the company's global and local objectives.
- Lead market analyses, mapping access barriers, stakeholder mapping, and opportunities in the supplementary healthcare system.
- Build and update the value proposition for different stakeholders (health insurance companies, providers).
- Work directly in the field with health plan operators and providers supporting access and conduct technical and strategic negotiations.
- Monitor key indicators of access, coverage, approval time, and sustainability of implemented models.
- Contribute field insights for continuous adjustments to the access strategy.
- Ensure that all activities comply with codes of ethics, compliance, and applicable regulations.
- To act as an internal reference in accessing the private market for advanced therapies, supporting strategic projects and launches.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in health sciences, Pharmacy, Medicine, or health related fields.
- Solid experience in Market Access in the private sector in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology or healthcare industry required.
- Proven experience with highly complex and high-cost therapies, ideally gene therapies, cell therapies, rare diseases, or advanced biotechnology, with ability to work independently as well as build rapport with cross-functional teams.
- Experience in negotiating with private health companies, hospitals, and large private accounts.
- Previous experience in roles combining strategy and fieldwork.
- Strong analytical skills and strategic vision.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills at multiple levels.
- Ability to work in complex environments with multiple stakeholders.
- Hands-on profile, with autonomy, a sense of urgency, and results oriented.
- Advanced or fluent English.
