Position Summary:

As Senior Medical Science Manager (Sr. MSM) in France, you cooperate closely with our field-based team and other relevant medical colleagues. You are responsible for developing and enhancing professional relationships with medical thought leaders involved in various phases of product development, as well as key medical organizations including treatment centers of excellence and established societies and associations in France. You provide medical information through scientific exchange in a fair balanced manner and provide clinical/scientific support to the company. Your services are field-based, and you possess established professional personal and scientific credibility to interact with thought leaders and centers of excellence. You will support Ultragenyx commercialized products and pipeline in France as your primary responsibility. 

Work Model: 

Field: Officially documented as working as a member of the Ultragenyx field team, generally interacting with third parties on behalf of Ultragenyx.

Responsibilities:

1. Scientific Engagement 

  • Build and maintain strong scientific relationships with KOLs, HCPs, and diagnostic networks to enhance disease awareness and patient identification. 
  • Serve as a trusted medical partner by providing balanced scientific exchange and supporting investigator-initiated research. 

2. Strategic Insight Generation 

  • Capture and communicate emerging clinical and scientific insights to inform internal decision-making and strategy. 

3. Therapeutic Area Expertise 

  • Apply deep knowledge of rare diseases, particularly metabolic and genetic disorders, to guide medical engagement and education. 
  • Leverage advanced clinical training (MD, PhD, PharmD) and strong understanding of the healthcare system to provide local thought leadership. 
  • Contribute to local Market Access and pricing/reimbursement discussions with scientific expertise. 

4. Scientific Strategy Execution 

  • Develop and implement territory plans aligned with regional and national strategies to support Ultragenyx’s medical objectives. 
  • Collaborate with field-based and global medical affairs colleagues, as well as cross-functionally, to drive the successful execution of scientific initiatives. 

5. Clinical Development Support 

  • Partner with Clinical Operations to identify trial sites, support patient recruitment, and foster productive relationships with investigators. 
  • Act as a key contact for HCPs pursuing investigator-initiated research opportunities. 

6. Scientific Communications 

  • Deliver high-quality scientific and clinical presentations in diverse healthcare settings and contribute to medical education initiatives. 
  • Provide accurate, timely medical information and updates. 

7. Congress & Advisory Support 

  • Represent Ultragenyx at scientific meetings, congresses, and symposia through presentations, discussions, and scientific support. 
  • Provide expert engagement at advisory boards and contribute to shaping scientific dialogue with external stakeholders. 

Requirements:

  1. Advanced degree in clinical specialty required (MD, PhD, PharmD) and commensurate experience 
  2. Required: 3-5 years of industry experience 
  3. Rare disease experience is preferred, particularly in metabolic and genetic disorders 
  4. Demonstrated experience effectively presenting clinical/scientific information required 
  5. Expert understanding of the health care delivery system and its impact on patient pathway in France 
  6. Highly motivated; demonstrates resilience and flexibility; effective listening skills; excellent communication and presentation skills; works autonomously to organize and prioritize one’s own work schedule; proactively and consistently delivers on commitments 
  7. Languages: Fluent in French and English  
  8. Approximately 50-60% of travel is required; overnight travel is required as needed 
  9. Valid driver’s license
