Design System Designer - Hybrid
ULTRA MOBILE is seeking a talented Design System Designer to join the Marketing Team in Costa Mesa, CA! Individual reports to Manager, Design Systems. Role is hybrid.
This role is a hybrid opportunity that requires a local commutable distance to the HQ Costa Mesa, CA office as needed.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Your usual day of awesomeness includes:
- Collaborate with Designers, Developers, Copywriters, and Design System Manager to create reusable components and documentation for our Design System libraries.
- Build and maintain multi-platform component libraries for designers to leverage in their web and native app projects.
- Write detailed documentation on component specifications, usage guidelines and best practices on our Design System Documentation site.
- Communicate design system release updates to the Experience Design Team.
- Partner with Design System Manager to host educational workshops and training sessions to teach team members how to effectively use our design system libraries.
- Partner with Design System Manager to create new design system processes and contribution workflows.
- Promote brand consistency and ensure proper usage of our design system libraries across all Experience Design projects.
- Stay informed with industry trends, design system tools, and UI best practices.
- Deliver quality work that is accurate and on schedule.
- Business hours: 8:30 am to 5:30 pm Pacific Standard Time.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Degree or Certification in Graphic/Web Design, User Experience Design, or Human-Computer Interaction Design.
- 3+ years of experience in UI Design working on Design Systems for ecommerce websites and native apps.
- Strong understanding of design principles, modern UI patterns, elements, interactions, and responsive web design.
- Experience in creating scalable libraries for designers to leverage in their projects.
- Strong portfolio showcasing complex UI patterns and detailed component documentation.
- High Proficiency in Figma with expertise in auto-layout, variables, booleans and interactions.
- Proficiency in other design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite and Zeroheight.
- Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work closely with designers and developers.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to verbally articulate and write documentation on component functionality.
- Strong time management skills for handling multiple projects and meeting deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with designers and developers.
- Understanding of component theming and design tokens.
- Understanding of web standards, HTML/CSS and ADA compliance.

In support of the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the range of starting pay for this role is $80,000 - $90,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, actual compensation is influenced by a wide range of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, education, certifications, responsibility, and geographic location.
