Sr Director of Architecture and Data Engineering - Hybrid
ULTRA MOBILE is seeking a talented Sr. Director of Architecture and Data Engineering to join the Enterprise Information Management Team in Costa Mesa, CA! Individual reports to AVP, Enterprise Data Engineering & Mgmt Svs. Role is hybrid.
This role is a hybrid opportunity that requires a local commutable distance to the HQ Costa Mesa, CA office as needed.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Sr Director of Architecture and Data Engineering is a key, senior leadership role within the EIM team that is responsible for the strategy and roadmap delivery of our Data Engineering and Data Architecture services to ensure continuous improvement of the provided services to the organization. Through leadership/development of human capital and risk abatement/ innovation of technical capital, this role ensures our data remains consistent, available, accurate, and aligned with the business processes that drive company growth.
Your usual day of awesomeness includes:
- Hands-on technical leadership for your team performance, mentoring, training, upskilling, and working side-by-side with your team.
- Serve as Product Owner in Agile for Architecture Team ‘data products’ roadmap, intake, refinement, prioritization, grooming/sizing, and delivery.
- Leadership and development of the teams supporting Data Architecture, Solution Architecture, Data Warehousing, and data pipeline integration for Customer Data Platform.
- Ensure Data Governance standards are followed throughout data pipeline development.
- Optimization of the Total Cost of Ownership of our data platforms and maximization of the business value of our data systems to the organization.
- Product development and management of a portfolio of data solutions including but not limited to our data warehouse,, integrations with enterprise systems, enrichment of enterprise messaging events, data architecture, and enterprise data models.
- Development of subordinate directors and managers through delegation, performance management, and continuous coaching.
- Innovation of data systems via research and application of relevant technology advances.
- Collaboration with peers in Engineering and Technical Support services to define operating models, best practice delivery services, and technical consistency.
- Collaboration with key business stakeholders to identify and remediate gaps in data services portfolios.
- Serve as the authoritative source on data integrations and reference data architectures in the evaluation of new technologies and their compatibility with UVNV, Inc. data operations.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
- 8+ years of experience leading teams in the development of Data Warehousing technologies combining structured and semi-structured data.
- Demonstrated excellence in the management of both internal and external delivery teams.
- 5+ years of experience working with Agile and Scrum project management processes using tools like Jira and Confluence.
- 5+ years of experience as a Domain or Enterprise Data Architect.
- 3+ years managing remote vendors’ delivery of sustainment and development IT services.
- 5+ years leading an Enterprise Data Warehouse development team.
- 3+ years of experience participating in a Data Governance framework.
- Expertise working with AWS services (Lambda, S3, Glue, Aurora, Dynamo, MWAA), DBT, python, and cloud data systems like Snowflake.
- Expertise in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
- Experienced with CI/CD (Git/Bit, CI/CD, Orchestration).
- Significant knowledge in the areas of Reference Data, Data Quality, and Metadata Management.
- Experience inventing data solutions – not simply using packaged software.
- Working knowledge of Python and statistical application of Machine Learning algorithms.
- Understanding of small-med size business budgets.
- Strong communication and influencing skills.

In support of the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the range of starting pay for this role is $225,000 - $260,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, actual compensation is influenced by a wide range of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, education, certifications, responsibility, and geographic location. We also offer a variety of benefits including health, disability insurance, 401 (k), flexible spending accounts, EAP, education reimbursement, parental leave, unlimited vacation, bonuses, and company paid holidays.
