Learning & Development Specialist
UMA is a nonprofit healthcare educational institution with a national presence. Headquartered in Tampa, Florida and founded in 1994, UMA offers content-rich, interactive online programs as well as hands-on training at our Clearwater, Florida campus.

Purpose of the Position:
This position designs, implements, and facilitates organization wide training modules for team members that align with organizational goals and foster a culture of continuous learning. This role also supports team member onboarding and organizational development by integrating modern learning technologies and promoting cultural awareness and inclusion.
What you’ll do:
- Design and Implement Organization Wide Learning Programs: Develop and execute learning modules, including onboarding, skill-based training, and technical training. Apply design principles and learning sciences to create engaging and effective learning experiences. Leverage design tools and education technology applications to enhance program delivery.
- Facilitate Learning and Development Sessions: Leverage diverse methods to engage participants and enhance learning outcomes. Demonstrate expertise in learning delivery & facilitation. Promote cultural awareness and inclusion to ensure an inclusive learning environment. Provide mentorship and support to ensure the successful application of new skills and knowledge.
- Evaluate and Enhance Training Effectiveness: Continuously monitor and assess the effectiveness of training programs through feedback, performance metrics, and data analysis. Implement improvements to optimize training outcomes and support organizational development. Make informed decisions to enhance program quality and relevance.
- Collaborating with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs): Work closely with SMEs to gather insights and content for training programs. Ensure that the training materials are accurate, up-to-date, and reflect the latest industry standards and practices.
- Promote and Model a Culture of Continuous Learning: Foster a culture of continuous learning and development within the organization. Encourage employees to pursue ongoing education and professional growth opportunities. Align training initiatives with career development paths and organizational development strategies. Demonstrate accountability in maintaining high standards for learning and development. Stay current with emerging learning technologies and trends and integrate them into training programs.

Required Skills/Experience:
- Associate degree, or equivalent work experience.
- 2+ years’ experience in learning & development/training experience.
- Skills - learning science/training delivery & facilitation, design principles & tools, cultural awareness and inclusion, decision-making, and accountability.
- Ability to professionally communicate fluently in verbal and written English.
- Supportive of a diverse and inclusive work environment.
- Computer literacy/basic computer skills to effectively navigate and utilize the technology required for the role.
Preferred Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience.
- Strong or advanced proficiency in any of the above required skills/experience.
- 4+ years’ experience in learning & development/training.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other business tools such as Microsoft Teams.
- Other skills abilities – learning design, learning assessment, subject matter expert communication, coaching/leadership development, and influence.
Compliance:
- Demonstrate knowledge of and carefully follow all applicable federal and state compliance requirements and regulations including those prescribed by the U.S. Department of Education, accrediting agencies, state regulations and, and internal policies and procedures.
- Effectively communicate compliance requirements to other staff as appropriate and quickly escalate any compliance concerns to the Compliance department.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
- This is a full-time remote position.
- Home office set up, quiet place to work, and ability to hard wire into high-speed internet connection.
- May require setup of computer equipment, accommodation consideration available upon request.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends, as needed.
Anticipated starting salary is based on experience and qualifications.
Compensation Range
$60,000 - $65,000 USD
