Compliance Specialist

Purpose of the Position:
The Compliance Specialist evaluates the validity of high school credentials and maintains the Proof of Graduation list for the organization. This role also supports federal regulatory reporting requirements, ensuring accurate and timely submissions for IPEDS Surveys, Consumer Information, Student Right to Know disclosures, Campus Security disclosures and other regulatory reports as needed.
What you’ll do:
- Validate Secondary School Credentials: Review and determine if secondary schools, including high schools, GED programs, or home schools, are valid, accredited, and meet all internal and external requirements for a high school diploma or equivalent for purposes of receipt of federal student aid.
- Maintain Proof of Graduation List: Keep an updated list of all reviewed high schools, GED programs, and home schools.
- Resolve Transcript Validation Inquiries: Respond to tickets and resolve inquiries related to transcript validation.
- Audit Graduation Documents: Audit proof of graduation (“POG”) or equivalent documents collected by the Student Finance POG Team.
- Assist with Other Audits: Provide support during other internal and external audits.
- Reviews marketing materials: Review materials generated for external use for compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational policy and procedures.
- Support Compliance Department: Assist the Compliance Department and the organization as needed to support its compliance processes.
- Investigate and Resolve Issues: Investigate and resolve matters, sometimes sensitive and/or confidential.
- Communicate Compliance Requirements: Effectively communicate compliance requirements to students and staff and escalate compliance concerns within the Compliance Department.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other business tools such as Microsoft Teams.
Compliance:
- Demonstrate knowledge of and carefully follow all applicable federal and state compliance requirements and regulations including those prescribed by the U.S. Department of Education, accrediting agencies, state regulations, and internal policies and procedures.
- Effectively communicate compliance requirements to other staff as appropriate and quickly escalate any compliance concerns to the Compliance department.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
- This is a full-time remote position.
- Home office set up, quiet place to work, and ability to hard wire into high-speed internet connection.
- May require setup of computer equipment; accommodation consideration available upon request.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends, as needed.
Anticipated starting salary is based on experience and qualifications.
Compensation Range
$28.85 - $28.85 USD
